For step 1, Worker get the Gimme-‐a-‐Li3 tool and, while standing, place the bo:om “step-‐on” pad on the floor so the tool is straight up and down. Worker doesn’t step on the tool. Consumer employer, you should sit down in a chair and place one foot on the “step-‐on” pad of the Gimme-‐a-‐Li3 tool. Your other foot should be about 12 inches (1 foot) to the side, not on the “step-‐on” pad.
1
This prac6ce requires three people: 1. A Coach, who will read each step, and then show team
mates the pictures while the step is pracJced. 2. Worker 3. Consumer employer
COACH: Show the worker this picture. When the body posiJons look right, go to next step.
Now, the consumer employer holds on to the top two hand grips, keeping arms bent and close to their body. Worker should hold the palm grip on the top of the Gimme-‐a-‐Li3 tool with both hands. Next, stagger your feet, so that one foot is about 12 inches (1 foot) in front of the other. Slightly angle the Gimme-‐a-‐Li3 tool towards the consumer employer.
2
COACH: Show the worker the pictures for this step. When the body posiJons look right, go to next step.

3 Now that you are in posi0on, the Worker will tell the consumer employer, “on the count of three, please stand up using your legs.” On three, the worker pulls gently backward keeping neutral spine posture. Worker should put weight on back leg to keep balance as client stands up. Consumer employer, be sure to use your legs while standing up.
COACH: Show the worker this picture. When the body posi0ons look right, say “one, two, three, liD!”
Worker, once the liD is complete, make sure that the consumer employer is stable before removing the Gimme-‐a-‐LiD tool. Keep in mind that this tool works because of the power of leverage. The consumer employer and worker hands must always be in the correct posi0on for this liD to work.

COACH: Show the worker the picture for this final step.
