Hills was to modernize the preexisting traditional-style interiors, while incorporating
elements of classic Four-Seasons fl ora and invoking the rich history of Old Hollywood
and Beverly Hills. With a warm, clean Southern-California style at its core, the design
for the hotel evolved into one of classic aestheticism and smart simplicity – a perfect
aesthetic backdrop for the international hub of entertainment industry events and

FAIRMONT HERITAGE PLACE Acapulco Diamante – Acapulco, Mexico
In the villas of Fairmont Heritage Place Acapulco
Diamante, sleek contemporary design is fused with
traditional Mexican elements to create a natural, yet
luxurious retreat. To execute this task, sfa focused on the
seamless transition between indoor and outdoor space,
using bold, yet minimalistic fi xtures to accentuate the
architectural lines based on the ideas of Luis Barragan,
who has worked to give the Mexican hacienda a fresh
up-to-date design. By combining indigenous materials
such as dark tropical woods and pebble fl ooring with
an array of modern accents, the interior design spreads
warmth and continuity through each interior space.

breathtaking views of the bay and Alcatraz Island,
Fairmont Heritage Place, Ghirardelli Square is a unique

in an iconic San Francisco setting. sfa design thoroughly
researched the rich history of the property to transform
the world-famous chocolate factories into the most

Francisco. Featuring private terraces, exposed original
red brick walls, customized furniture and original artwork,
the property possesses a sexy yet sophisticated identity.

sfa design created the Hotel Indigo Manhattan prototype to showcase a space that
is as innovative as it is inviting - a warmer, more welcoming version of the uber-chic
boutique. Carefully pairing old with new, and abstract with organic, the result was one
of hip serenity and a novel spin on sophistication.

WALDORF=ASTORIA AT BONNET CREEK
Orlando, Florida
Located on nearly 500 acres of land the Waldorf=Astoria
at Bonnet Creek blends the elegance and refi nement
of the Waldorf=Astoria brand with the vibrant ambiance
and warm energy of Florida. At the client’s request,
sfa’s designers rejected the youthful, Disney-esque
spirit of Orlando in favor of a mature, yet modern
sophistication that appeals to an eclectic mix of guests
seeking the best in luxury business destinations.
VENEZIA TOWER Venetian Hotel Resort & Casino – Las Vegas, Nevada
For the Venezia Tower, sfa design created a hideaway
within the hotel that builds upon the Venetian’s existing
Italian Renaissance theme, while evoking the ambiance of
a private palazzo. To ensure a more intimate, “boutique”-
style hotel-within-a-hotel, sfa designed private seating
areas, using soft lighting and deep woods that offer an
air of welcome, while grand fi xtures, luxe fabrics and rich,
intricate patterns on the fl ooring and furniture evoke the
ambiance of an elite estate.

renovation of the world-renowned Fontainebleau Resort in Miami Beach. The design
for the new and improved Fontainebleau Sorrento commanded both innovation
and a keen understanding of the notorious beach area’s history. With the individual
expressionistic nature of South Beach interiors in mind, sfa design was able to envision
a clean, contemporary design that distinguishes itself for its chic construction and highly
impressive art collection.

DISNEY’S BOARDWALK INN Lake Buena Vista, Florida
With nearly 400 guestrooms, suites and duplex cottages
Disney’s Boardwalk Inn is a traditional resort set on the
coast of Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Inspired by the early-
20th century seaside resorts, the hotel is located on a
lively boardwalk of shops and restaurants. The spirit of
the space is romanticized beach house elegance. Like
most Disney designs, the theme for the Boardwalk Inn
possesses elements of fantasy with motion picture-
esque characteristics. Its impressive outcome won the
project the cover of Hospitality Design Magazine.
The nautical vibe is created using antiquated furniture,
light patterned prints and wicker details. A world traveler’s
collection of art and artifacts decorates every cabinet,
cupboard and surface, giving the space a personalized
quality, as if it is someone’s beachside retreat. A casual
elegance is evoked with graceful chandeliers and fl oral
and striped fabrics that set a mood of joyful relaxation.
Whimsical statues like that of a glass elephant atop
the fi replace and a stone horse holding a large fl oral
arrangement enhance the whimsical feel of the space.
Colorful pillows and couches carefully mismatch with
seashell printed armchairs to further a mood of eclectic
comfort. The result is a joyful atmosphere that evokes an
elegant image of a 1900s beach resort, with a touch of
playful imagination unique to the world of Disney.
Scope: New Build - 378 Guestrooms & Presidential
Suite, 532 Vacation Villas & Member’s Lounge, All Public

Park Wilshire – Los Angeles, California
After winning the 1991 Elan Gold Award for Best Interior
Design – Luxury Community for Park Wilshire, Sue
Firestone, Founder/Chairman of sfa design, was asked
to return to take on the property’s 2007 renovation.
Catering to an international mix of residents, the
new design for Park Wilshire was inspired by the
many world cultures represented within the building.
sfa maintained the contemporary feel of the space
by incorporating the existing clean modern lines, the
Asian aesthetic and the use of black stone into a sleek
interpretation of world design.
MONTECITO RESIDENCEPrivate Estate – Montecito, California
Stepping away from the cold sparseness and narrow
lines of modern minimalism, the design for a recently
renovated 5,000-square-foot Montecito estate fuses
valley richness with contemporary refi nement. Santa
Barbara-based international interior design fi rm, sfa
design worked with the estate’s owners to create a
clean, modern space born out of earth-inspired, organic
elements.

ITALIAN VILLAPrivate Residence – Southern California
Paying homage to old-world graciousness and elegant, ultra-livable homes, sfa’s design
for this 12,000-square-foot Montecito estate was inspired by a famous Pompeian villa. All
aspects of the design; from the warm color palette of terra cotta, russet and cream, with
touches of teal and gold, to the hand-picked antiques and accessories were thoroughly
researched to capture the authentic ancient Italian look and feel.
ITALIAN VILLAPrivate Residence – Southern California
Dramatic Architecture and sophisticated design work hand-in-hand to recreate the
taste and elegance of a Mediterranean style villa in this renovated 18,000-square-
foot home. sfa planned the design of each room to fl ow seamlessly from one to the
other, with every area in this magnifi cent home offering a taste of true luxury and
classical opulence.

HOPE RANCH Private Residence – Santa Barbara, California
This classic Italian-style home was designed to
complement the stunning seascapes and mountain
views of its Santa Barbara, California location. sfa
employed rich woods, sophisticated antiques and refi ned
architectural details with a palette of greens and gold
accents to create a space that blends seamlessly with
the 20,000-square-foot estate’s dramatic surroundings.
Inspired by the serene, lush landscaping of this 8,000-square-foot Bay Area home,
sfa design created a harmonious retreat by marrying rich Italian decor with clean
neoclassical architecture. The consistency of color combined with the devotion to the
Italian Rococo infl uence creates a symbiotic fl ow within all spaces of this residence.
The gentle grandeur in each detail allows the classical Italian design to gracefully
fuse with the home’s natural Californian setting.
LOS ALTOS Private Residence – Los Altos Hills, California
Dramatic architecture by Richard Landry and elegant interior design come together
to create an inviting and enchanting space in this 6,000-square-foot Spanish-style
home. sfa established a tone of sophistication by merging deep umber patterned wood
fl ooring with delicate fabrics and rich tapestries that generate an air of lavishness
within the rustic atmosphere.
MONTECITO Private Residence – Montecito, California
To invent an innovative, yet elegant design for this Bel Air residence, sfa employed
the simple element of sleek, uncomplicated surfaces in the clean lines of furniture, art,
walls and fl ooring. Unadorned spaces and a palette of cream and auburn woods give a
quiet modesty to the design, as the open layout, infl ux of light from fl oor length windows
and the use of fi replaces warm up the hip, contemporary environment.

SAILING YACHT TAMSEN Via Reggio, Italy
The primary goal in designing the 174-foot private yacht, Tamsen, was to combine
the exquisite elements of a classic Italian Perini Navi with the warmth, functionality
and modern sensibility of a contemporary living space for the owner’s extended family.
Balancing a traditional nautical backdrop, with an innovative contemporary design,
sfa enlivened the rich teak interiors with vibrant digitized artwork. Every aspect of the
ship’s design pays tribute to the owners’ love of sailing and sailboats while infusing their
personal appreciation of modern artistry.
