Academic success is our priority but education
is about more than just top grades. We believe
in educating the whole person and equipping
our students to make their mark on the world.
We encourage them to get involved in the many
extra-curricular activities on offer and to take
every opportunity to develop their interests and
creativity, their interpersonal, teamwork and
leadership skills, to be forward-thinking and to
reach into the wider community.
We have a very broad curriculum, giving the
students the opportunity to enjoy a wide
range of subjects.

I feel like I have been here forever! There is such a community that I feel like everyone is family to me.‘‘

Sir William Perkins, a wealthy Chertsey
merchant, founded the School in 1725.
Today the School has around 580 students
aged 11 to 18, who join us from many different
independent preparatory and maintained
sector schools. Situated on Green Belt land in
twelve acres of attractive gardens and playing
fields, the School is easily reached by road and
public transport and students travel here from
a wide area.
The School has a Christian foundation and
ethos which underpins the way it operates.
However, we value the fact that the Sir William
Perkins community is diverse and students of
all faiths, or none, are warmly welcomed.
The Sixth Form years are often said to be
the most enjoyable of all, and bring a host of
opportunities. The Sixth Form lead the way
in all areas of school life, both academic and
extra-curricular, including directing drama
productions, embarking on the Gold Duke
of Edinburgh’s Award and running successful
Young Enterprise teams.
There is a structured programme of support for
university applications, under the guidance of
the Head of Sixth Form, including one-to-one
help from tutors. The vast majority choose to
go on to high-ranking universities.

The students were very impressive….their questioning was both curious and scholarly, and reflected the sorts of students we would all like to see in our seminar groups.Visiting University Lecturer
SWPS is a very busy place! During lunchtimes
and after school, the students are involved in
numerous clubs and societies organised by
staff and Sixth Formers. Beyond the curriculum,
just as within it, we believe in stretching the
most able, as well as giving opportunity to
all. There are also a large number of day and
residential trips on offer which bring the
curriculum to life.

Pupils demonstrate excellent social awareness and they grow up to be poised, confident and articulate young women. Independent Schools Inspectorate Report

We have a ‘sports for all’ attitude whilst also giving a high standard of
competition for those seeking to reach the top in their sports.Director of Sport
Our sports teams celebrate success at district,
county and national levels, with our rowers
having represented Britain internationally. The
excellent sports facilities enable us to offer a
wide range of sporting activities. Throughout
the School, the abundance of curricular and
extra-curricular sporting opportunities are
embraced by all.
Pastoral care runs through every aspect of
School life. Whether in the classroom, on the
games field, on stage or in the lunch hall, it is
of paramount importance. Girls will thrive, be
inspired and reach their potential when they
feel happy, secure, safe and well looked after as
individuals. Our partnerships with parents
underpin our ability to provide the best
possible support to each one of our students.
Focussing on each student as an individual is
central to our ethos. Getting to know each
of the students and encouraging them to aim
high and get involved is at the heart of what
we do at the School.

Your girls are strong minded, friendly, confident, funny, articulate, energetic and engaging. All these skills and behaviours are so important for women in the changing world in which we operate.Judge, Young Enterprise Surrey Final
