Introduction
These tutorials have been designed to be executedunder UNIX (Linux) Operative System (OS). Which is avery powerful and robust environment.
Nevertheless, Windows OS users can do the laboratorysessions by using Cygwin, which is a tool that allowsto emulate a UNIX command line shell over Windows.
Indeed, after installing Cygwin, users can develop the
laboratory sessions as if they were working on a UNIXsystem (as these tutorials were designed).

Windows Troubleshooting:
Execute only if gLAB
doesnt run
Some distributions of windows (e.g. Windows XP) do not install some dllsrequired to run gLAB_GUI. This problem is fixed by installing the "MicrosoftVisual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update.
To install this package:
1) Go to the DLL_fixfolder, inside C:\gLAB directory.
2) Execute vcredist_x64
or vcredist_x86

When changing the working directory with the cd command, it is
compulsory to insert the path inside quotes () when the path is inWindows style or the path contains blank spaces.

There is an utility to convert between Windows paths and Cygwin
paths, named cygpath.
- To convert a Windows path to a Cygwin path, execute:
cygpath Windows_path
- To convert a Cygwin path to a Windows path, execute:cygpath w Cygwin_path

gAGEs Cygwin installation script creates links for gLAB GUI (Windows
version), gLAB command line (both Windows and Cygwin versions),and graph (Windows version). They can be executed in any path justtyping gLAB_GUI.py, gLAB.exe, gLAB_linuxand graph.py.

The Cygwin installation provided with gLAB is a basic one. It providesthe packages for text edition and processing, octave program, filecompressing utilities, native C and fortran compiler, tcshell and perlinterpreters, a few tools for process management and the wgetprogram to download files from the internet. These are enough to dothe course and for automating gLAB.
The full Cygwin installation has many more features, like for example:GNUPlot, ssh client and server, X11 graphics, Apache server, andmany more.
You can upgrade your Cygwin installation at any moment downloadingthe Cygwin official instalator at http://cygwin.com/install.htmlIt willshow you the packages available and will automatically add the new
packages you have selected to your current installation.

The ESA/UPC GNSS-Lab Tool suit (gLAB) has been developed underthe ESA Education Office contract N. P1081434.
The data set of GRACE-A LEO satellite was obtained from the NASAPhysical Oceanography Distributed Active Archive Center at the JetPropulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology.
The other data files used in this study were acquired as part of NASA'sEarth Science Data Systems and archived and distributed by theCrustal Dynamics Data Information System (CDDIS).
