ThesolarparkwasbuiltonthegroundsoftheformermilitaryairportPerlebergandcomprises90hectares,anoverallareacorrespondingtothesizeofapprox.125soccerfields.Moreoverthesolarparkisanexampleofasensibleuseoffallowterrain,whichwasonceusedformilitarypurposes.
Afterthecomplexundertakingofmunitionsremoval144,144modulesmanufacturedbyYingli,39invertersbymarketleaderSMAandabout500kmofcablewereusedinthisprojecton64hectares.Attimesthesiteemployedupto120installers.TheGehrTec®Basesubstructuredevelopedin-house,forwhichapprox.25,000postswererammedintothegroundservesasthebasisforthecrystallinemodules.Theremaining26hectaresaredesignatedcompensationareasandserveasahabitatformanymeadowbreedingbirds.
TheparkwassoldtotwoinvestmentfundsofKGALGmbH&Co.KGlocatedinGrünwaldnearMunichspecializinginrenewableenergies:InfraClassEnergie6,aclosed-endfundopentothegeneralpublicpurchasedthewesternpart,whiletheeasternpartwasacquiredbytheEuropeanSustainablePowerFund2forinstitutionalinvestors.
