Virtualization Traditional resources like servers, desktops and applications can be virtualized, and change the way IT does business. Virtualization technologies yield better business process support and cost savings through consolidation, standardization, and automated provisioning.
Infrastructure Engineers architect and implement systems to gain operational effi ciency through optimization, implementation of administrative controls, tighter integration of core business applications, and seamless access to resources for a distributed workforce.
Security Our Security Practice works with customers on policy development and enforcement solutions to meet compliance objectives through pre-audit assessments or post-audit remediation, data protection solutions, risk management, security frameworks, threat and attack detection, and implementing technologies to enforce the policies.
Storage Organizations that face compliance challenges for fi le and email retention, business continuity and disaster recovery, may not realize they can get more out of what they already have.

Client: Duane Morris, LLP
Industry: Law Firm Solution Areas: System Migration, Performance, Remote Access, Security
Key Technologies: Microsoft Active Directory, Citrix
• One of the top 10 law fi rms in Philadelphia and among the top 100 in the nation • Featured in trade publications for being in the upper echelons of law fi rms in their use of technology • IT staff supports 1,300 users, including more than 500 lawyers, in 20 offi ces, using 80 separate applications
• Duane Morris had been using Citrix MetaFrame 1.8 as a remote access solution, supported by two internal IT resources, and supplemented by Gotham Technical Support as needed
• Already in the process of migrating from NetWare, GroupWise, and WordPerfect to Windows Server, Offi ce and Exchange, they decided to move all their applications to a Citrix platform to improve performance, simplify use and maintenance, and gain scalability
Gotham implemented and tested a full Citrix MetaFrame Access Suite XPe farm with two Web Servers and two test servers, designed to meet Duane Morris’ specifi c requirements. Gotham then provided knowledge transfer to assist Duane Morris’ IT staff in deploying applications on a rolling basis.
• Integrated AD policies made the Citrix implementation nearly transparent to users, so almost no user training was required• Two web servers and test servers allow Duane Morris to thoroughly test applications before their release Two web servers and test servers allow Duane Morris to thoroughly test applications before their release T• Built-in double redundancy eliminates all single points of failure, practically eliminating downtime
• Gotham’s quality of work and responsiveness while supporting Duane Morris’ existing Citrix deployment made them the natural choice for the full implementation
• Duane Morris’ IT organization is highly standardized, which Gotham supported completely, building each server identically • Mike Carpinella, Duane Morris’ head of IT, received his own Citrix training at Gotham’s Technical Education Center

Industry: Finance Solution Areas: Data Storage Key Technologies: EMC SAN, Cisco SAN Switches, Cienna dark fi ber connection
An investment management fi rm employing a disciplined multi-asset, global research process. Their investment products span from aggressive high volatility market-neutral hedge funds to low volatility benchmark-driven traditional products.
The client had outgrown and needed to replace their existing SAN, a mid-sized CLARiiON. Through the purchase of EMC products, the client also hoped to centralize their data management. Scalability was key because of the amount of accumulated data. And as they were opening up another datacenter, the client needed real time replication between the two sites, and failover in case of a disaster at one site.
The client chose to purchase an EMC DMX-3 enterprise SAN, with enterprise class Cisco SAN switches and Cienna dark fi ber equipment. This solution eliminated the increasing number of direct attached storage arrays, and allowed them to proactively monitor the hardware.
• Reliable storage • Centralized management • Proactive monitoring of the storage hardware • Data replication to remote site
• Fiber attached backup media server and server hosts increased data throughput
• Virtual servers and server failover solutions were implemented using the SAN
The client feels that to effectively run an IT organization, it is crucial to have a limited but select group of partners they can rely on. Gotham has been a reliable partner for over ten years.

Key Technologies: Microsoft .NET framework, Microsoft Offi ce SharePoint Server 2007, Microsoft SQL Server 2005, Visual Studio.NET, Windows Server 2003
One of the nation’s largest manufacturers and distributors of building materials, serving commercial and residential building sectors across the US.
The client was utilizing an internally developed corporate intranet that functioned as a document library and a launching pad for a collection of custom ASP applications. This system required IT departmental intervention on a daily basis to manage documents and applications. The client wanted a more self-service solution, with representatives of each department managing their own content.
Gotham determined that a solution built on Microsoft SharePoint would enable an intranet that provided the extensive document management and collaboration benefi ts that the client needed. In particular, the SharePoint solution allowed IT to provide a platform for content delivery and collaboration without the daily hands-on approach. Workfl ows could also be created to simplify and standardize business processes.
The new intranet platform allows IT to focus on more critical business issues and puts content and information dissemination into the hands of business owners. The company recognizes improved productivity, more timely information, and the refocusing of IT resources on more critical issues. Automation of key business processes ensures that the right people are kept in the loop and issues are dealt with more effectively.
Gotham demonstrated a clear understanding of the client’s business and technical challenges and an ability to support the SharePoint deployment once the project was complete. Gotham was in a position to work with the IT team to ensure that they understood the platform, enabling them to develop additional solutions for SharePoint.
