I. SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS

A.Over-all Description of the Barangay

1. History of Barangay Somoroy 

  In the critical post war era, the natives of Barrio

Canunghan, the former name of Barangay Somoroy , felt

the need for transformation into a barangay.

From 199!19"#, Barrio Canunghan came out of its

shell to become Barangay Somoroy under the vigorous

initiative of $io %erida, the %unicipal %ayor during that

time in the %unicipality of Bobon.

&f the 1' barangays of the %unicipalty, Barrio

Canunghan which is now populary(nowa Brgy. Somoroy, isone of the critical Barangays of the said town. It is nested "

(ilometers away from the town proper, one of the oldest

barangays of the municipality, and a home to many early

(nown people as )erino %orino, *lou Cuanico, *sco

+agapac, oregoy %orino and Ceferino %oreno.

From 19", to the present, Barangay Somoroy has

gone through tangible social and political growth and

developments. It has transformed from a simple barrio to a

Barangay in 19"# by virtue of the power vested on %ayor

$io %erida. -ppointed by him, -tencio was the rst

 eniente del Barrio.

/ramatic changes in leadership too( place. -longside

with the people0s need of a peaceful and progressive

barangay, they eerted e2orts to choose their leader who

is believed to be worthy. -fter years of leadership, -tencio

was succeeded by Captain %olle3on. - year after his

election, the barriohanons installed Sergio -gasang into

o4ce as their Barangay Captain. 5e served the barangay

for several years.

Change in leadership did not giggle the

barriohanons, thus choce another leader in the person of 

Frncisco %agno.

Francisco %agno did not last for years, he was

removed from the o4ce for some reason. Cristito %oreno

too( over until 19'9 when he won the election. Cristito

%oren decided not to re!elect beacause of his health

problem. 5is younger brother Crisanto %oreno continued

his desired to serve the Barangay residents. Crisanto

%oreno started his leadership in 1996 until 7##7.

In 7##7, an energetic, humble and truly had a heart

in serving the barangay inhabits in her leadership and

dreamed progress of the barangay commenced. -

barangay hall, electric power, and concrete pathway was

seen in reality during the leadership of Brgy. Captain

*steletha Soriano.

2. GEOGRAPHICAL SETTING

Barangay Somoroy is one of the 1' barangay in the

municipality of Bobon, 8orthern Samar. It is (m from

the feeder road bounded by Brgy. on the north, Brgy.

on the south, Brgy. on the west and Brgy. on

the east.

3. TOPOGRAPHY Barangay Somoroy, relative plain all over the entire

barangay.
