SPRING EDITION, 2011 20TH EDITION
Dear Long Island Family
Spring is coming and most of you are hop-
ing all the snow is gone and never coming
back. But for us the snow has been great
because we spend the winter up in Ludlow,
Vermont skiing. No matter where we are
our hearts will always be with our Marriage
Community on Long Island that keeps us
warm inside. It was so good for us to come
back to be with so many of you at the W orld
Marriage Dance. W hat a great night! W e
thank all of you who put on this event espe-
cially Jeff & Claudia Fishman and Peter & Kathy Kelch. Our thanks go out to all the couples
who have made our leadership a lot easier. W e would like to name you all but there is not
enough space to do so. And beside you know who your are.
W e are in the process of finalizing the Lighting The W ay Enrichment weekend. The date will
be in mid October, and be held in Massachusetts just north of Springfield. All are welcome,
details and registration will follow as soon as we get all the information together.
Also this year has be designated as the year for Inviting. W e are asking all of you to invite one
couple or priest this year, even if you have asked the couple or priest many times before. W ho
knows this might be their time to receive the gift of the ME W eekend.
May God bless you and we would love to hear from you.
W e Love You John&Toni J

and helping the couple get into community after their weekend.
Provide a warm greeting when couples arrive on Friday night and help show them to their rooms.
Give a pulpit talk sharing your Marriage Encounter experience and present it during mass at a local parish. (There
are samples of pulpit talks and help to write them.)
Hand out brochures and answer questions at a local parish after another couple gives a pulpit talk during mass
Contact your pastor and arrange for pulpit talks during Sunday mass.
Write and present a short talk for a local Community meeting. Sample topics and outlines and help are available.
Work in the Community to help strengthen it (e.g., take responsibility for an area, plan or help with a
community activity, help with post or community nights).
Contact your pastor and arrange for a one-day enrichment for married couples of your parish called
.Celebrate Marriage Day..
Host a meeting where one of the presenting teams or another couple gives information about the weekend to your

As the Easter season approaches, it is a time to reflect on how we can be a visible light to oth-ers. The sacramental love we share with our spouse is an important element in being inspiration to others, but to be a true light we need to shine our light outside our marriage, reaching into our home with our children as well as outside to our extended family, friends, and beyond. One couple we know that stands out to us is Charlie & Gerri Peknic. Charlie & Gerri have been married for 41 years and have 3 children, plus 10 and one on the way grandchildren. They made their first ME weekend in 1975. Charlie and Gerri have a love for each other that is so beautiful and visible that it
dent in the way that they talk to and look at each other. They have a spirituality that is life giving and inspiring. They are a
nurturing those in need. They are actively involved in various
day. They have also worn many hats in Marriage Encounter over the years, weekend pillar, community pillar, team couple, and most recently prayer couple coordinator. They have also helped run and organize romantic dinners for recruiting. And not too long ago, while Gerri held the fort down at home, Charlie went on a church mission to Guatemala to bring love, sup-port, and funds to a very poor area in need of food, clothing, medical supplies and more, and as a family they continue to sponsor several children there to assure that they get the care they need. We are, in fact, one of the lucky couples who were blessed to have Charlie and Gerri as one of the presenting team couples who gave us our weekend over eight years ago. They left
Charlie and Gerri. Perhaps you too know a couple who is life giving and a light for all to see. Maybe you are even a light to others yourselves. At this special and Holy time of year, let us take the time to reflect on the wonderful gifts that God has given to each of us and let our light become visible to all those we come in contact with.
Thank you Charlie and Gerri for all that you have given to others. With Love and Gratitude Ron & Chris Morasse

Do you sometimes find it difficult to select a dialogue question? Do you at times find yourself scratching your head in vain as you try to come up with something new? Well now you can have your Dialogue question delivered daily like the newspaper. Visit http://www.wwme.org/dialogue-central.html and go the Did you know? Panel (RH side of the web page). Follow the instructions to the letter and you will begin to receive a dialogue question by email daily. You can cancel the service at any time. The same website has lots of useful support tools to help dialoguing couples and
priests. Our thanks to Jim and Yvonne Byrne for this tip that we can personally recom-mend. _____________________________________________________________________________ SAVE THESE DATE! Mark your calendars!

Dear Long Island Lovers: We have been working on our Annual Montauk Getaway! The prices in Mon-tauk don't seem to be affected by the economy. We were able to negotiate a group rate for the same Ocean-Front rooms we had at the Ocean Beach Resort for the last few years. A search of several other resorts failed to meet the criteria of price,
ocean-front location, large deck for Saturday Night dinner and indoor pool (just in case the weather doesn't cooperate) We will be staying 3 nights Friday Sept 30th thru Monday Oct.3rd. Ocean-Front Studio $555.07 (total includes tax) Rooms in the rear facing the pool no ocean view $ 459.53 Ocean Beach requires a 50% deposit to book and the other 50% due 1 month after booking. We have a block of 6 rooms together on hold for 10 days-if you are interested please contact us either by phone or reply to this e-mail. In order to get this discounted rate, and to get a room at the resort near where we are staying you
must book early and through us so please contact us very
soon.
