From the Pastor:
See you at Mass,
On this MLK Holiday weekend, I encourage you to celebrate the day and honor Dr. Martin Luther King with
service for others.
This past Saturday, Fr. Bob Frederick led a group of high school teens to Washington, D.C. to participate in the
annual March for Life. We are grateful for Fr. Bob’s leadership and the generous commitment of these students to
take the time and make the effort to participate in this meaningful and important event that highlights our Catholic
faith position regarding abortion.
Additionally, on Saturday, January 28th, join in an Archdiocesan wide call for a Day of Prayer for the Legal
Protection of Unborn Children. The day will begin with a 9:00AM Mass celebrated by Archbishop Gregory at the
Cathedral of Christ the King.
A few reminders:
• We are following our “flu” recommendations which means we have temporarily suspended Holy Communion
from the cup. Also, I ask that everyone receive in the hand to minimize the transmittal of germs.
• Next weekend, January 26th and 27th, the second collection is for Habitat for Humanity. See the information on
the next page about their activities. Additionally, you can get home-baked goods and a gourmet cup of coffee in
the Narthex – a fund-raiser for Catholic Heart WorkCamp. Information about this annual service event is also
on the next page.
• It’s January, so if inclement weather threatens or occurs we will update all SPC information on the Mobile App
(be sure to turn on notifications), the Parish Website, and 11Alive on TV. Additionally, our Faith Formation
Programs (Adults and PSR) send out information via Constant Contact.
• Father/Daughter Dance tickets are available Online on the Parish Website and going fast. Be sure to get yours
soon.
Congratulations Sister Marie Andre I had the wonderful opportunity to be present for
the reception of Sister Marie Andre (daughter of
Dave and Judie Petit) final vows. The glowing faces
and happy smiles are testimony to how uplifting an
experience this was and how and special the
moment. I often say that the parish has someone
special in our corner – you’ve now seen her picture!

CATHOLIC SCHOOL
PARISH VERIFICATION
FORMS
It is that time of the year when
parents seeking to place their
children in Catholic Schools need
to have a Parish Verification Form
signed by the Pastor. The
Archdiocese of Atlanta asks that all
of its parishes assist with financial
support for the Catholic Schools. It
also requires that parents of
Catholic School students be active,
involved, and supportive members
of their home parishes. Here at St.
Peter Chanel, we ask the following
of our Catholic School parents:
• You participate at Mass every
Sunday with your family;
• You have been registered for at
least 3 months. If you are new
to the area, you are asked to
provide a letter from the
pastor of your former parish
regarding your involvement and
support;
• You are involved as a parish
member and volunteer in a
parish ministry;
• You are contributing weekly to
St. Peter Chanel Catholic
Church, by use of either parish
envelopes or E-Giving system.
For your form to be processed,
please contact Mary Ann
Plachta at 678-832-1222 to set
up an appointment with
Monsignor Rau for his
signature. DO NOT mail or
leave forms with the
receptionist for signature.

In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus begins his public ministry at a wedding feast. He saves the groom some embarrassing
moments by providing a fresh supply of wine. Jesus demonstrates that he brings people together in joy and that he
uses human events to convey his message that the Kingdom of God is at hand. This is a good week to share how
your family shows the love and care that Jesus expressed by saving the wedding couple from embarrassment.
