The example we must follow
Now the Bereans were of more noble
character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures
every day to see if what Paul said was true.

FINALLY
HERE!!!
With the influences of today's ungodly society, few* of us are likely to a
foundation completely based on truth.
Our goal is to GROW.
WHO NEEDS
THIS?This will be important
for all of us who want to follow Jesus.
*(perhaps none of us)
TIME for the COUNTDOWN to the first PROOF!!!

4 Things to Watch Out For.Kamalnv (CC-BY-3.0)
Watch out for:
• Half-truth
Only ONE
drop of poison won't
hurt!
Doesn't the Bible say, "For God so
loved the world …"?
A "God of love" would never send someone to hell, would he?
S nova (CC-BY-SA-3.0); Andrew Magill (CC-BY-2.0)
• Counterfeits & fakes– (both teachers and teachings)
Watch out for:

These people are false apostles. They have fooled you by disguising
themselves as apostles of Christ.(2 Cor. 11:13 NLT)
Thus you nullify the word of God for
the sake of your tradition. (Matthew 15:6b NIV)
Watch out for:
• False motives,
pretention, hypocrisy
Public domain
… on the outside
you appear to people as righteous but on the inside
you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness. (Matthew 23:28 NIV)
• Hearing only
what you want
to hear
Watch out for:

For a time is coming when people will no
longer listen to right teaching. They will follow their own desires
and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever they want to hear.
(2 Tim. 4:3 NLT)

3 TYPES OF RESPONSES when we look at these proofs.
Yes! It's true of me!
Well… It doesn't quite describe me,
but I want to change!
TWO GOOD RESPONSES!
3 TYPES OF RESPONSES when we look at these proofs.
I don't care what you say. / That's
your opinion. / I've got my own views. / I want to interpret it my way.
(etc.)
ONE BAD RESPONSE!
2 WAYS TO HELP EACH OTHER
• Encourage each other.
• Pray for each other.

1 Reminder about Patience & Effort:
But this transformation will require effort – time and energy on our part. And it won't happen overnight.
Scripture tells us we need transformed.
Do not live like the people of this world.
Instead, be transformed into a new person,
by changing the way you think. (Romans 12:2a)
It's like trying to look through a muddy window. To accomplish this, it takes effort.
An ILLUSTRATION of Patience & Effort
The more
we patiently clean the
window…
and
clean it…
… the better we can see what's on
the other side.

We're finally here!

So are you ready?
The #1proof of
salvation is….
(can you guess it?)
Jorge Royan (CC-BY-SA-3.0)
LOVE FOR GOD!!!
LOVE FOR GOD!!!
* But there's a tiny little problem with this statement. *
Just about anyone can say they love God!
NOT ME. I'M AN
ATHEIST.
I LOVE GOD!!!

So how do you know if your claim
to love God is accurate?
• Opinion?
• Ask the government?
• Can't know?
• Each according to his own view?
• Majority vote?
• Brute force? ("I make the rules and you have to follow them")
6
If you claimyou're following the Bible…
• How do you know the Bible and you
are talking about the same thing?
Your mission: This week…
• THINK about this issue.
• PRAY that we will be receptive
to what we discover in Scripture.
(Getting it right is a matter of life or death.)
