Activity 6 - Science
Calculating BMI
Do you know the harm Fast food can cause to your health?
Fast food doesnt provide you the vital nutrients required for your growth and adds to
body fat. As a result of which you feel lazy and tired all the time.
For this reason, Home Science classes have been introduced into your curriculum to help
you understand the benefits of a healthy diet. A diet that includes fruits, vegetables,
whole grains, protein and low-fat dairy products are usually high in soluble fibre. These
fibres are required for a healthy digestive system.
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure of your weight calculated according to your height.
It is a simple test used to assess how much a persons body weight should be in accordance
with his or her height. It is done to classify underweight, overweight and obesity in people.
BMI is very important for players as it determines their fitness levels. BMI can be
calculated easily at home without the use of expensive equipment. BMI is calculated by
dividing weight (in kilograms) by height (in meters) squared.
So, calculate your BMI this summer, to check if you are physically fit.
Body Mass Index (kg/m2) Classification
less than 18.5: underweight
18.5 - 24.9: normal weight
25 - 29.9: overweight
30 - 34.9: class I obesity
35 - 39.9: class II obesity
40 upwards: class III obesity

Project 2 Me and My Reader
Project Two:Me and My Reader
Reading books increases our vocabulary, improves comprehension of a variety of text and is an enjoyable activity to do on a
lazy summer afternoon when you cant go out to play.
To make this project interesting we have designed a set of activities that will help you understand the story better.
Before Reading:
Watch the movie Narnia
Activity One: After you have seen the movie, find the names often characters in the word search.
While Reading:
Activity Two:Now start reading your book. After you read each chapter identify the main idea of that chapter and draw it
on an A4 size sheet. By the end of the book you will have the pictorial representation of the story ready. This can be used
while presenting the story in class after vacation.
After Reading:
Activity Three: Match the names of the characters with their qualities.
Activity Four:Now, carefully analyze the role played by each character and choose one to describe in the graphic
organizer attached. You can take a printout of the same to do it.
Activity Five:Learn any one song from the movie. A Karaoke session can be organized in class post your holidays for a
presentation. Do get the Karaoke music along with you.
Note: Remember to read each page of your story carefully as there would be a reading assessment after the holidays.
We are sure that you will enjoy doing this homework as much as we enjoyed designing it for you.
