Thurber Improv—Nosebowl Champions
On February 18-21st, students from the Lindsay Thurber Improv team (Lucas Hayden, Isaac Rice, Zach Strome, Stefan Theriault and Eric Wilkinson) participated in the Nosebowl Theatresports tournament in Edmonton. Our team won first place in the tournament and Zach Strom was one of three students recognized as a Nosebowl All-Star- this award also comes with a scholarship to Improv Camp. In addition to these accomplishments, both Zach and Stefan were invited to audition for Rapid Fire Theatre in Edmonton.

THEFT
Sadly, once again, we are having
a problem with theft in our
school. iPod’s and cell phones
are frequent targets.
Do not leave anything of value unlocked or
unattended anywhere
(this includes Phys Ed
lockers & classrooms)
Do not hesitate to let the office know if
something has gone missing.
Be vigilant – we all want to put a stop to
this crime and your help is needed.
This issue affects all of us!
Thumbs up and Thank you to
those students who have found
iPods and other lost valuables and
turned them in to the office so they
can be returned to their rightful
owners!
Parents and students have access to view
student’s grades, schedule, attendance, and announcements by
clicking the “POWERSCHOOL” button on our website.

MLA for a Day
On May 1-3rd the Legislative Building will host a program called MLA for a Day. MLA For a Day is designed to give Alberta high
school students the chance to find out what it really means to be an MLA. Through conversations with Members, students learn
more about the role of an MLA and experience firsthand what it's like to deal with diverse points of view when making decisions
on provincial issues. The program is free of cost to participants, including travel and accommodation expenses.
Additional program information and application forms can be found on the Assembly website at:
www.assembly.ab.ca/visitor/student_zone.
Application closes March 18, 2016.
Thank you to everyone who came out to donate

The Breakfast Program operates Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. and Tuesdays and
Thursdays during flex block. This program is essential in order to ensure that all Thurber students have
nourishment to begin their day. As a school community we strive to equip all of our students with the solid foundation they
need in order to be successful in school and in life. Knowing that many of our students come to school without eating breakfast
each day, we provide a free breakfast to all students who wish to take part. Thank you for Donnalee Thudium, and Kirsten
Jensen who have organized this amazing program!
A special thank you to the following parents, families, staff, and former students who have volunteered one or more early
mornings to assist with preparing food and serving breakfast to our amazing students:
