2020-2021 Faith Formation, High School Youth Ministry Registrations Now Open
Registration for the 2020-2021 Faith Formation year is underway. All forms were emailed to current Faith Formation families whose children have been participating in the program over this past year, however, we ask all families with children kindergarten through level 8 to register for Faith Formation. We look forward to working alongside your families in helping them grow strong in their faith. If you have a child ready to enter kindergarten or are new to the parish, please let us know so that we can be sure to get you on our registration list.
All children, levels K-8, have the option of attending Faith Formation on Sunday mornings (Session I), 9:15-10:15AM, or Wednesday evenings (Session II), 6:30-7:30PM. All high school students will continue their Faith Formation through High School Youth Ministry, and are asked to give a phone number and email address where they can be reached and informed of upcoming meetings, projects and activities.
· Tuition for Levels K-8 is $60 for one child and $100 for two or more children if registration is completed by August 3rd, 2020. Fees will then double after August 3rd and be $120 for one child and $200 for two or more children.
· There is no cost to register your High School age child (Level 9-12) for Youth Ministry.

John when you come to Mass, or to call the parish office (483-3772). You can also find the registration form on our parish website at www.stjoschatham.org and click on Forms, then New Member Form. Welcome! We look forward to meeting you in person!

FAITH FORMATION & YOUTH
Family Faith Formation Tool Kit
When you think of family fun activities, you likely think of activities in the truest sense of the word: swimming, biking, sledding, and the like—in other words, doing
something that involves activity. While all those things are, in fact, fun family activities, there’s likely one key element missing from them: real conversation—the kind that helps you get to know the most important people in your life and helps them get to know you!
Consider trying a NEW kind of family fun activity—learning about the ones you love. To do it, you only need a few questions to spark fun conversation. That’s right—having conversations with your family can be downright fun. How?
Well, grab a bowl of popcorn, gather your family, and try the questions listed here for starters (excerpted from The Meal Box):
· What has been the most exciting moment or event in your life to this point? · If you could change one thing about the way your favorite holiday is celebrated, what would
you change? · Kids: What aspect of being an adult are you looking forward to the most? · Adults: What aspect of being a kid do you miss the most?
· If you had to describe your personality in terms of a farm animal, which one would it be? · When you consider our amazing earth, in what particular aspect of it
do you find it easiest to “see” God? (Courtesy of Loyola Press; written by Bret Nicholaus and Tom McGrath)
Faith Formation Needs YOU! If you’ve ever considered being a catechist or an assistant in our Faith Formation Program, now is the time to step forward and share your talents with the children/youth of our parish. We have several areas available for both Sunday Morning (9:15-10:15am) and Wednesday Evening (6:30-7:30pm) sessions. Training & guidance will be offered. If you would like to discuss possibilities, please contact Janice Anderson ASAP. She can be reached by email at [email protected], or you can call the church office at 483-3772 and leave a message for her. Thank you for your consideration to participate in this wonderful ministry, benefitting our parish youth...the future of our Church!
Substitute Catechists are also needed for both sessions and will be given materials needed to lead each class. If you are available in this capacity, please email Janice at [email protected].

Mission Statement of St. Joseph the Worker Parish We are a Roman Catholic faith family in Chatham, Illinois committed to proclaiming the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We live our faith with our words and through our actions. Nourished by the Word of God and the Eucharist, we seek to become a place of mercy and hope where everyone is welcomed, loved and respected.
Prayer for Spiritual Communion At Thy feet, O my Jesus, I prostrate myself And I offer Thee repentance of my contrite heart, Which is humbled in its nothingness And in Thy holy presence.
I adore Thee in the Sacrament of Thy love, The ineffable Eucharist. I desire to receive Thee into the poor dwelling that my Heart offers Thee.
While waiting for the happiness of sacramental Communion, I wish to possess Thee in spirit. Come to me, O my Jesus, Since I, for my part, am coming to Thee!
May Thy love embrace my whole being In life and in death. I believe in Thee, I hope in Thee, I love Thee. Amen (Pope Francis)
For those still unable to attend Mass, here is the prayer for spiritual
communion we pray each week.
