Talk Around Town AAC Enrichment Program

This program consists of community outings designed to promote
socialization among children who use a speech generating device
(SGD), and improve their use of SGDs in real-life, social scenarios.
Participants are elementary school-age children who use SGDs to
communicate. The group is staffed by a speech-language pathologist
and a recreational therapist, with the additional support of undergrad-
uate/graduate student volunteers.
When:
During the school year: Monthly from
October to March.
During the summer: Tuesdays 5:30-7pm
beginning June 16 and ending July 21
Where: Locations and events to be scheduled.
Cost: No cost to participate; funding is
provided by Dance Marathon. Parents will
need to pay for siblings to participate and for
parking.

Additional information/Contact Information
This program is based out of UMHS-C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital.
Participants will meet at the scheduled location. Parents/guardians
must remain on the premises, but are encouraged to allow their children
to be as independent as possible. Children will be assisted, when nec-
essary, by a volunteer or staff member.
