Cambridge Quilt Museum
Description: Situated in an intersection of 3 different zones of use, the museum acts as both a space of enclosed per-formance and a gateway for passage. The form is designed to encompass passive heating and cooling, while also con-trolling the environment required with the sensitive quilt materials. Additionally the form assists the attraction of the Charles River by connecting a linear passage between the Harvard Yard and activity spaces on the river. The project becomes an experiment of urban responses blended with formal passive design, allowing for a large social impact, with lower environmental effects.

Building Movement and site
site research
The triangular lot that the site and it’s neighbors are located on currently forms a kink in a linear connection of Harvard facilities and the Charles River. Therefore by using a museum with a passage incorporated into its design, the site forms a cultural as well as physical portal for further connection to the river. The program builds on the cultural attractions located a few blocks north, such as the Arthur M. Sachler Museum, and Corbusier’s only american building. Massachusetts Ave, a major artery through Cambridge passes directly in front of the building allowing it to be an easy attraction to locals as well as tourists to the area.

Description: The project looks to build off of the success of the social “pocket” elements that Paley Park in NYC incorporates. The park is a release form the city and the injections are designed to incorporate the ecological elements that allow the park to function more like a non -urban element. From water recycling and reuse, to bird and vegetation habitats, the injections explore the terms “ecological urbanism.”

Description: The project is an exploration on the “fi gurative”, and “literal” borders between the locals that run the station and the tourists that are passing through. Attenuating the border, the project formally looks to deal with the confrontation of the line that must be crossed. The form which has a fi gurative basis is pushed and pulled according to intricacies of turning radii, and line cues. Larger spaces for the workers of the station, and formal representations to the visitors attempt to maintain the amount of confronting feelings for each user of the space.

Semester: Fall 2011
Description: The project looks to bring to issues to the foreground: that of the lack of experiencing the Menomonee valley in downtown Milwaukee, and the missing public space required to do so. The space provided is a small section of the entire lot located directly across from the main attraction, the Harley David Museum. Building off of this spark of identity, the insertion of a bridge and connection to the rest of the city seeks to activate the space with multiple types of people. Through a blending of landscape and architecture the crowds are moved towards a water front that is increasingly cleaned up and made available. In the end the space allows for fl exibility of use with a specifi c focus on activating the waterfront.

Doubling Infrastructure

Description: The project uses the long term renewability of wind power to establish an infrastructure that weaves the mega regional and local together. The project is a commentary on the current situation of Detroit, where the biggest problems are vacancy and the politics involved in densifying the city. The project therefore is designed to provide a transportation infrastructure that does not allow for the governing offi cials to say it is too costly or unsustainable. By connecting the mega region of the Great Lakes, a new more complete economic zone is united. And by designing this scheme around the renewability of wind power, the sustain-ability status will allow for other urban options rather than just dense or non-dense.
