Innovation Characteristics
Relative Advantage
Price - Cheaper than a laptop or personal computer.
Mobility - More portable than a laptop.
Battery Life - Lasts longer than a laptop on battery power.
Apps - Can run specific applications.
Relative Disadvantage
May not run some applications specific to a device or operating system.
Smaller screen size - may be more difficult to view webpages that are made for aspecific resolution.
Compatibility
Works similarly to a laptop or desktop computer but uses a touch interface rather
than mouse and keyboard. May run applications already used by the company, but made specifically for
tablets.
Complexity
People already see a wide variety of people already using tablets for bothpersonal and business needs, so it is perceived as not difficult to understand.
Training would be in place to allow new users to understand how to use a tablet.
Both physical and graphical interfaces appear simple and easy to use.
Trialability
A tablet is relatively inexpensive and several could be bought and tested. Testing on a tablet will not require extensive changes to the current business
products and processes, other than developing or purchasing applications to runon it.
Tablets may come with a trial period, where a business can try them out for alimited time.
Observability
Customers seeing Employees utilizing a new technology may see the businessas more technologically advanced.
Several advertisements are currently showing how cool and fun tablets are to
use.
