Volunteer Registration for the Insperity
Invitational is LIVE and underway! An email went
out in January with registration instructions. We
already have a number of people signed up to
volunteer on one of our many great committees
but we still have plenty of room for volunteers—
new and returning. Volunteering is a great way to
give back to the Houston community, make new
friends, spend time with old friends and
co-workers, and enjoy top-notch Championship
golf.
This year’s volunteer package includes:
One (1) Bermuda Sands tournament logoed polo
One (1) Bermuda Sands tournament logoed outerwear
One (1) Tournament logoed golf cap or unisex visor
Meals on days of Volunteer service
Parking on days of Volunteer service One (1) voucher for one (1) round of golf at
The Woodlands Country Club (must complete four shifts to be eligible)
Volunteer Appreciation Party on Saturday, May 6, 2017 *Also included: laughs, opportunity to meet new friends, and memories that last a lifetime. All proceeds
benefit local Houston charities.
If for some reason you did not receive the registration email and would like it sent again, feel free to send a note to [email protected] or call 281-357-4653. The strength of our volunteer program seems to get better each year and 2017 should be no different. There is an exciting schedule of events starting to come to fruition and you surely won’t want to miss out on the best volunteer experience of the year. We can’t wait for the 2017 event and hope that you will join us to continue our “Tradition of Excellence” for the 14th straight year!

Ever thought of expanding your role as a
volunteer or hole marshal? Join our
Volunteer Leadership team as a Hole
Captain! Each hole has a group of volunteers
called Hole Marshals that are in charge of
reducing distractions and ensuring the safety
and enjoyment of the professional golfers
and spectators. Each Hole Captain is in
charge of managing a certain hole and
scheduling the shifts of the volunteers that
work on that hole. Are you a part of a golf
club or organization that would like to
volunteer together? This is a great
opportunity to showcase your organization
by “sponsoring” a specific hole. There is no monetary commitment from your organization other than your
volunteer uniform fees, but your organization will be recognized with a Hole Sign indicating that the
volunteers are provided by your company or club. If you are interested in taking on this exciting role, please
contact Davis at the Tournament Office for more details at 281-357-4653 or by email at

Hole 10 volunteers welcoming John Daky
The tournament started off LOUD on Friday with John
Daly making his debut on the PGA TOUR Champions at
the Insperity Invitational. Plenty of fans, volunteers, and
staff showed John support by sporting their favorite
LOUDMOUTH prints as he impressed everyone with his
long drives and big personality. However, it was another
professional with an eccentric fashion sense that left
The Woodlands with the trophy. Jesper Parnevik won
his first PGA TOUR Champions Title in his 23rd start with
a 12-under 204 at The Woodlands Country Club
Tournament Course.
Parnevik’s Insperity Invitational win was his first win in
fifteen years since the PGA TOUR’s 2001 Honda
Classic. His career in his 40’s was marred by injuries and
there was a point when he would not hit a shot for six
months. However, this only enhanced the drive to get
back to the winners circle for Parnevik. “I don’t know if I
would have been as keen or as eager to play right now if
I would have played those eight years full-time. You see
a lot of guys get a revival almost coming out here and
they kick start their career and they think it’s fun again.”
It’s apparent Jesper is back to having fun again. You just
have to watch an episode of his award winning reality TV show about his family called “The Parneviks” to see
that. A man who once declared volcanic sand as one of his major food groups, we are proud to have him as
our Champion. Parnevik’s win propelled him into contention in the PGA TOUR Champion’s season-long
points race and allowed him an invite to the first ever Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs at the end of the season.
The inaugural three-event playoffs ended at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship at Desert Mountain in
Scottsdale, AZ where the top-36 golfers on the PGA TOUR Champions played for their chance to be named
the top golfer of the season. Paul Goydos played flawless golf and completed a wire-to-wire victory but he
was unable to put enough space between him and the ageless wonder, Bernhard Langer, to win the Schwab
Cup. Langer finished second at the final event and capped off another near-flawless season of golf. The
59-year old had one of his best year’s yet on TOUR, which says a lot with a resume like Langer’s. In 21
tournaments, his worst finish was a tie for 13th. He had four wins, four runner-ups, and 18 top-10’s. He
ended the year with 21 consecutive rounds under par. Langer has won four of the last seven Charles Schwab
Cups and is the only player to win it three years in a row. On a TOUR with a lot of guys that can go low,
Langer’s consistency at the top of the field is hard to imagine and he only seems to be getting better with
age. This is Bernhard’s world and the rest of us are just living in it. It sounds like a broken record, but
congratulations to Bernhard on another title! We look forward to seeing him back here in 2017!
