Goals and Action Steps
Goal 1Strengthen
PLCs
Key Action Step Strengthening PLCs
● Common PLC agenda ( ___ Grade PLC agenda)● Agenda will be shared with team members by Wednesday by Midnight MST● Use Big Rocks and data to identify and guide discussions for the strategies during the PLC time● Turn in your average for the pre and post tests for Math and Language Arts Benchmarks ● Identify on, above, and below students in reading and math and report to Jen monthly. You can
choose to use whatever format works for your team (google doc, boards, etc…)● Begin with the end in mind- leave with a clear expectation of what is to be taught assessed in
the following week, and know what needs to be prepared for the next PLC.
Goal 2Create a Culture of
Achievement by Building A Positive School Community
Key Action Step 1Teachers are purposeful in building positive relationships
with every student.● Greet students by name at door daily (Listen for music cue)● Each class will create a way to recognize students for positive interactions in the
classroom. Teachers will report back on how it is being done by Sept 18, when they will be shared in faculty mtg..
● Teachers help students take ownership over Principal’s Pride and identify areas they are particularly proud of. Students will then self-select what they are celebrated for. (Refer to Leadership Notebook in culture week plans)
● Teachers will select Leadership Students on their assigned weeks for morning announcements and put their names on the google doc.
● Teachers/ Jen will give out at least 3 ROAR cards each week (tracked)
Key Action Step 2-42. Build a sense of community by guiding students to build positive relationships with each other to reduce bullying, teasing, disrespect, etc.3. Embedded Leader in Me components into daily class instruction.4. High expectations for rule following and responsible behavior building-wide
regardless of location, person, etc.
● Weekly positive message on morning announcements from Principal to set the tone for the day.● Post pictures of kids who receive Principal’s pride in the hallway.● Create and use a hand signal to get student attention in large group gatherings (5, 4, 3, 2, 1).● Provide a weekly DEAL Lesson for teachers to present on Fridays as the special feature on morning
announcements.● Set a theme for the year built around building a positive culture and climate within the school, with
a focus on building positive relationships. Use the book, the Energy Bus with Faculty, Staff, and students as the theme for the year.
● Teaching Social Skills as part of morning announcements.

● Each class will utilize a suggestion box (provided) where students can nominate each other for leadership spotlights.
Action Step 5:● High expectations for rule following and responsible behavior
building-wide regardless of location, person, etc.○ Staff will reinforce the voice levels and rules in each area of the
building.○ Staff will reinforce rules, rewards and consequences for visitors,
subs, aides etc.○ Improve behavior in the lunchroom and playground by seating
kids by class, implementing playground rules, and reinforcing expectations taught during culture week.
○ PLC teachers leave a report for teachers on class behavior during Meet the Masters Time. Teachers follow through with rewards/consequences
Action Step 6:+ Change the perception of roles of aides in the building by teaching
respect and compliance of adults. + Increase level of respect shown to all adults in building: subs,
parents, district employees, presenters, etc.○ Change the terminology: aides to teachers (ie. Reading aides
