Priorities and objectives of theR.D.P. 2007 - 2013
The Rural Development Programme (RDP) is a policy tool and funding mechanism used by Member States for implementing EU rural development policy in a specified territory. Each RDP contains the measures (a set of sub operations) that are most relevant to the rural development needs in its target region.
The Rural Development Programme (RDP) 2007-2013 of Apulia was approved by EU on February 2008.
Priorities and objectives of the R.D.P. 2007 - 2013
Apulia Region drew up a Rural Development Programme in 2007 (implementing EU rural development policy and the common agricultural policy CAP), which was designed to provide the particular type of rural development support needed in its territory. It privileged two types of partnerships between public and/or private bodies:
Priorities and objectives of the R.D.P. 2007 - 2013
1) Integrated supply chain projects (in Italian: Progetti integrati di filiera - PIF) foster strategic alliances between those dealers who aim to be more competitive;
2) Local development programmes designed by Local Action Groups (LAGS) - to provide the particular type of rural development support that is needed in each territory and also to implement LEADER rural development methods – help dealers in the process of economic diversification.
WHAT IS A LOCAL ACTION GROUPLAG
A LOCAL ACTION GROUPS (LAG) is a partnership which brings together public, private and civil society sector organizations from a rural territory to implement the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) of the EU. All the actions are driven from the “bottom up”. They aim at:
LAGs main objectives1. Consolidating the local partnerships, the activities of
animation, the acquisition of competences to “mobilize” the local potential;
2. Promoting public and private partnership to encourage an innovative approach to rural development;
3. Promoting cooperation, partnership approaches and innovation;
4. Improving local governance also through integrated actions.
