What is the SAT?
• The SAT is a college admissions test given by the College Board
• Required by four-year universities; most will allow you to take either the SAT or ACT

SAT vs. ACT
SAT/ACT FACTS• Students on free/reduced lunch can take both
tests for free; ask your counselor for a fee waiver
• Most universities will accept either test
• Take both tests if you can; you might do better on one than the other
• Community colleges do not require the SAT or ACT; they require the COMPASS or THEA only
What is the SAT II?• The SAT II is a subject-specific test• This test is taken after the SAT reasoning test• The SAT II is required by some universities for
specific majors• Available tests are:

What is the ASVAB?• The ASVAB is a free aptitude test.
• It also has an extensive career-exploration component
• It is given once per year, in November, at CCHS.
• Results are received within about 2 weeks and are interpreted with students by an education specialist
• Aptitude scores are matched with career interests to provide students with hundreds of career suggestions
• See your counselor to sign up
