2018 PARISH YEAR OF RENEWAL Some of our Parish Development Projects
In addition to our spiritual and pastoral renewal, our Parish Development Projects currently include:
• Interior air-lock glass doors to our restored main entrance on Richmond Hill (follows after the new sign boards for Mass times etc.) and will complete Phase 2 of the recent disabled ramp access project.
• Narthex glass screen across the rear of the church (with aisle doors) beneath the organ gallery, to aid heat-retention and keep the church quiet for prayer. Includes removal of Albert Rd inner wooden porch.
• Organ restoration, nearing completion for Easter.
• Refurbishment of Oratory House for the growing Community, to comply with H&S / fire legislation on change from single to multiple occupancy, including rewiring (40-70 years old), replacement of all water pipes (suspected legionella) & heating, necessitating 4-month relocation from June 2018.
• Communion rails to replace the inherited rickety double prie-dieu (to avoid tripping/tipping/slipping) as requested by an increasing number of those choosing to kneel to receive Holy Communion, (while the choice to kneel or stand etc. remains).
• Altar steps to be reconfigured (as advised by the Diocesan Liturgical Committee) to correct variable heights, obviate stumbling / hazards, and improve the liturgical space. Architect’s design on noticeboard.
Feel free to discuss any of these projects with the Fathers or Brothers, or with the Chairman of the Parish Finance & Fabric Committee, Mike King. _____________________________________________________________________________________
CHILDREN’S LITURGY recommences (after a year’s lapse) after this next half term holiday, initially on 2nd and 4th Sunday mornings. Bring your child(ren) to our Catholic Institute Hall by 10.20am. They’ll be brought into Mass at the Offertory, and reunited with Parents after Mass. _____________________________________________________________________________________
