Great AGventure
Over 1,200 fourth-grade children, 45 teachers and 168 parents were in attendance this year for the Annual Great AGventure, held at the Paso Robles fairgrounds. “We were able to teach fourth-grade children about what horsepower is and where the term comes from,” said Martha Moak, one of the BRAE students who
participated in this event. In the past 12 years more than 15,000 fourth-grade children have attended this educational field-trip. They had the opportunity to explore the industry that produces our food, fiber and flowers. Many thanks to those who participated in the event this year!

ASABE 1st Climate Change Symposium Abstract Deadline -- October 15, 2014 The deadline for submitting abstracts for the ASABE climate change symposium is fast approaching. It seems hardly a week goes by without some sort of climate change conference or activity. However, what will be unique about this event is the emphasis on agriculture and how we, as agricultural and biological engineers, are striving for solutions to ensure humanity has ample food, feed, fiber, clean water and renewable fuels no matter what the climate is like. To learn more or submit an abstract see: http://www.asabe.org/meetings-events/2015/05/asabe-1st-climate-change-symposium-adaptation-and-mitigation.aspx

California Great Shake Out
Everyone, everywhere, should know how to protect themselves in an earthquake. Even if earthquakes are rare where you live, they may happen where you or your family travel. Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills are an annual opportunity for people in homes, schools, and organizations to practice what to do during earthquakes, and to improve preparedness.
