First DestinationWhile here, we are going to the National
Historical Museum, staying there for 2 days and leaving to
Abingdon, VA for a stopover.Washington D.C. was founded on July 16,
1790, Washington, DC is unique among cities because it was chosen
as the national capital. From the start, this city has been put in
political troubles, racial issues, national personality, finding
the middle ground and, of course, argument of power.
Second destiationsWe are going here to get a taste of the music
and the culture.Nashville is usually known for Country Music,
Tennessee Titans, Nashville Predators, Nashville Sounds, Oprah
Winfrey, Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium,, Hermitage (the home of
President Andrew Jackson), the Parthenon (replica of the Parthenon
, Greece), and Vanderbilt University.
Third destinationWe are going to New Orleans because of the
culture, for the amusement park, and the historical factor.New
Orleans is known for their Mardi Gras celebrations, the ports, and
the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
Fourth destinationGreen Bay is a very historical and famous city
because of its football team.Green bay is known for its football
team, The Packers.
5th destinationWe are going to Chicago for the Art Museum.
Chicago is known for the Willis Tower( Sears Tower) , the Bears,
and Chicago style pizza.
Tocqueville first impression: Arrival at New Orleans. Forest of
ships. Mississippi 300 feet deep. External appearance of the town.
Beautiful houses. Huts. Muddy, unpaved streets. Spanish
architecture: flat roofs; English; bricks, little doors; French:
massive carriage entrances. Population just as mixed. Faces with
every shade of color. Language French, English, Spanish, Creole.
General French look, but all the same notices and commercial
announcements mostly in English. Industrial and commercial world
American.
New Orleans is a very port-supported city because it is located
by the Mississippi River and in the Gulf of Mexico. We thought that
because of the rivers coming into Pittsburgh, we could improve on
your imports and exports because New Orleans was really successful
with their ports so we should follow the example set for
us.
