Objective The sustaining CAADP Momentum results framework 2015-2025
• A unique opportunity to address nutrition on the African Continent optimally
• Agriculture being the backbone of optimal nutrition in any society
• Hope to raise some questions to feed into our discussions and the decisions that may follow.
![Page 3: The caadp results framework covic](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022060115/5578446ed8b42a1f5b8b52bc/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
Introduction: Africa’s Complex Situation
• Very dynamic triple burden• Undernutrition• Micronutrient deficiencies• Overweight / obesity and related NCDs
• Various interventions being implemented simultaneously • Within this context we must ask relevant questions to allow us to ensure
that gains in agricultural production result in the intended nutrition outcomes
Optimum Nutrition For All!

Sustained CAADP Momentum Results Framework
Described as a key tool for Translating Africa’s agricultural development vision and goals into:
• Tangible outcomes• Tracking monitoring and reporting on progress • Facilitate mutual learning and accountability.
To do this for nutrition we need to have specific indicators that will allow us to adequately track progress over time.
“..improve nutrition status and in particular, the elimination of child under-nutrition in Africa with a view to bring down stunting to 5%”

Relevant questions for nutrition indicators
1. Which nutrition related indicators are appropriate? When?
2. How can we build them into the CAADP results framework at national or regional level?
3. How can we leverage other nutrition initiatives such as SUN for maximum synergy and to avoid duplicated effort?

Direct • Household Dietary diversity
scores• Individual Dietary diversity
scores• Nutrient adequacy• Vitamin A status• Care practices
Indirect• Stunting• Anaemia & serum ferritin• Other micronutrients • Breastfeeding• Other infant feeding practices

• Many nutrition related interventions are being implemented on the continent
• Can we collaboratively find synergies in terms of nutrition indicators in with other in country/regional programmes
“Agriculture is the foundation for nutrition!”
