Introductions: Thankful We have many blessings at Grace Christian School, from supportive parents to good students. We have teachers that sacrifice of their time and money to provide children with an exceptional program. We have benefactors that have provided a kitchen, a robot for the robotics program, and a new computer lab. We have a beautiful campus that we are beginning to develop. I thank God every day for blessing the Grace family.

Our 8th graders say goodbye

Farewell from Mr. Raymond I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support over the past three years. Your

support of the school and me personally has been most gratifying. I could not have asked for a

better school to finish out my career at. Grace Christian School is an amazing school that offers

Marion County hope for the future. The combination of a dedicated staff, strong students, and

an unbelievable group of parents has created a winning combination. I have looked forward to

coming to school every day and will miss working with you. I am excited about what Mrs.

McKee-Alexander and Mr. McKenzie will be doing next year and although we have lost a few

teachers we have hired some outstanding new teachers to take their place. I know that Grace

will be even more successful than it has in the past. I pray that you have a safe enjoyable sum-

mer and that the new year brings your children even more success. I look forward to seeing you

around town and hearing about how your children are doing.

Yours in Christ, Don

The ABCs of reading

Many children like to "take the summer off" from

school and reading. Unfortunately, this causes

students to forget many of the skills they learned

throughout their school year. This is called the

"Achievement Gap" or "Summer Slide". In the

article "How to Make Summer Reading Effective"

the author discusses the research behind this

summer slide and how parents can help prevent

this gap from occurring. It's more than just giving

a child a book. The child needs A-Access to books,

the B-Book should be at the appropriate level, and

the child needs to C-Comprehend the book with

parental guidance. The key component is C-

Comprehension. The author gives great ideas and

suggestions for how parents can help children

choose books and guide them through the

comprehension process. Please take a few minutes

and read the article (included as an attachment) to

help your child/ren return to school ready to learn!

Blessings,

Mrs. McKee-Alexander

As soon as we have received the standardized testing

results we will contact all families so that you may pick

up your child’s report card, standardized test results, and

any other items (K5 & 8th DVD’s & pictures, etc.) . We

hope to have everything in at the same time for a one

time pick up.
