SEPTEMBER 2016
With the approach of Labor Day, I would like to thank the members for all your hard work on making our club one of the finest on the Great Lakes. The efforts of you who volunteer is noticed and appreciated. The August social was very well done, thanks to all who helped. September brings the return of the men’s smoker, also the GBYC golf outing. Knowing Ken, I’m sure a good time is being planned. Check the articles inside for dates, times etc... Look for details inside about an upcoming Packer tailgate party. A reminder to all, that we are a family club, young children can pop out of anywhere, use caution in what you say and do. Parents, please supervise where and what your kids are doing. Now that the preaching is done, please enjoy the rest of your boating season. Remember it’s your club, use it. See you at the club, Gary

As summer winds down we’ve enjoyed our last Summer Social on August 17

Mother Nature did not cooperate for the August 20th Dinghy Poker run that Team Foley stepped forward to run (thank you). In typical Yacht Club style, we improvised with indoor Olympics and Karaoke! games, singing, dancing and more…how could you go wrong! As always, all had lots of laughs and fun.

Hard to believe it is September already. Where has the summer gone. We have a few parties going on yet this year. If you would like to reserve the club or pavilion remember to check calendar by the office for availability and fill out the form. Our kitchen and bar are going strong. Keeping you full of food and beer. Feel free to stop down and support our club for the burgers on Tuesday, Mexican Thursdays, Friday fish, and Sunday chicken. Always remember to call ahead with your groups so we can properly manage the amount of food to prep to eliminate waste. Please wipe down the table and chairs when you are done using them. We will see you down there. Kris

Grassy Island Range Lights, Inc.
To quote the esteemed “Lucky Duck”, never say “kick-off” to an old man. Well, we did our fund drive kick-off for the stabilization of the break wall upon which our Grassy Island Range Lights stand. It was a grand day, attended by the Mayor of Green Bay, Jim Schmitt, and Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach and many others. Our goal of three million dollars is one third there thanks to a couple of gentlemen who have never swayed when it comes to lending their support to the longevity of these beautiful lights. Spread the word. We need a couple more million. We have scheduled an open house on Saturday, October 1 from 1 to 5 pm. Please in-vite your friends and neighbors. We have a lot of T shirts looking for new owners. Perhaps one or several visitors may feel motivated to help with the pledge drive.
“Imagine navigating our water ways in 1872 in the search of new opportunities—the Grassy
Island Range lights at the mouth of the Bay serve as a historic reminder of our past and our
future. Preserving this symbolic feature is essential in reminding future generations of the
importance our great water ways played in building our community.” County Executive Troy Streckenbach.

I can not believe its September already. Too much boating to do and not enough summer. I still am at the club every Tuesday around 4:00 till ?. If you need hours and there is something you think needs to be taken care of, come on down. I want to work side by side with you to get it done. So we can keep our club looking great. See you around the club. Robb

Hello Fellow GBYC'ers,
Well this sure has been an awesome summer for boating and I hope everyone is having a great time on the water. The fuel tank was recently filled and I am happy to report that the pricing has remained steady at $2.90/gal. I am asking that everyone attempt to gauge their fueling times around the fuel/dock attendant hours, the hours are as follows: Wednesday - Friday: 4p.m. - 8p.m. Saturday/Sunday : 9a.m. - 3p.m. Thank you!

Reminder: If you bring a guest to G.B.Y.C. , you are responsible for that guest and they must leave the G.B.Y.C. grounds when you do. Recently there has been some questioning on Marina Security Lighting. The parking lot side light must remain on for obvious security reasons. The harbor side light may be turned off if this is in compliance with and agreed to by your neighboring slip holders and only then may it be turned off. I am working with US Lamp and Dan Emmel to see if there are any alternatives to the lighting issue, such as a dimmer or any other type of upgrade. I will keep you informed on this matter, thank you. Reminder : ( ALL MEMBERS ) Please remember to sign in and out of a slip when you are floating in the harbor....this is extremely important! Thank you! Also, please document all emergency lifts in the Dock Holders Log. If you are not a slip holder contact me for proper routing and billing information. Most have been very good with this, just a reminder. Thank you!
In closing, I hope everyone has a fantastic Labor Day Weekend wherever your plans take you! ....and as always, stay safe...take care, and see you at the club....
I am out!

Make a REASONABLE offer. This is a collectible. Fully restored, but could use a coat of varnish topside. Been in storage for at least the last five years, but I will wash off the dust. It's wood, going to need to soak up some water to seal, but after that, good to go. Small bilge pump in-stalled in stern to get what-ever little comes in. Engine has always run great for us. 40 HP Johnson. Pics avail-able. Julie at 621-2224 or [email protected]
