InMark 13:31-33isrecordedthereteachingsofJesus,“Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.” Theword“watch”isusedinthreesentencesintheBible: 1)Towatch,inordertobeonguard, 2)Towatch,meaningtolookfor,and 3)Towatchinthenighttime. Some of the points in this text reveals clearlythatthisearthasweknowitshallhaveitsend.In2 Peter 3:10-11,itisdeclared,“TheDayoftheLord,”that“will come as a thief in the night.”Inthewhich,theheavensshallpassawaywithagreatnoise,bigbang,andtheelementsshallmeltwiththeferventheat.Theearthalsoandtheworksthatarethereinshallbeburnedup.ThenPeteradmonishesallofus,saying,“Seeing then that all these things shall be dis-solved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation (action) and godliness.” IencourageallofourreaderstoreadallofChap-ter3foritisaveryalarmingtext. So,weareadmonishedtobeonguard,tolookfor, because it may happen when we are not pre-paredforit,hence,thethiefinthenight. Oneofthewaysthatwecanbepreparedistobeonguardforourownsouls.OntheDayofPentecost,
recordedinActs2:40,afterPeterhaspreachedthatgreatstory,about3,000requestedbyasking,“What shall we do?”Petergavethemthismessage,saying,“Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall re-ceive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”(Acts 2:38)CalledinEphesians 1:12-14,“the gospel of your salvation.” “And with many other words did he testify and ex-hort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward gen-eration.”(Acts 2:40)Iask,howwasthispossible?Verse 41gives theanswer,“Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”So,then,inthismannertheysoactedinobe-diencesothattheyhelpedthemselves.Somehaveadifferent opinion concerning this, but their opinions canneverdissolvethisHolyWord.Hebrews 13:8,says,“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”So,ourLordhasn’tchangedhismindcon-cerninghowmenaretrulysaved;so,ifyouhavenotobeyedtheLord,thenyouarenotsaved.So,who’sfaultisit? ThismuchIknowfor101%,thatonlytheoneswhohear,believe,obeythewordsofJesuswillgotoheaveniftheyremainfaithfuluntodeath.Hebrews 5:8-9clearlystatesthatJesus“became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him.” So, in closing, let me say this clearly, with thegreatestconcern.Ifyouarenotonguard,watchingforyoursoul,youmayverywellloseitbyfailingtoobey the terms offered by the Lord. So,westandreadytoteachyouthetruth.AttendwithusthisverynextLord’sday.Fornooneknowswhenhiscomingwillbe.

Our lives becomelecturesandourpursuitsareexamplesofourpri-orities.Peoplewatchusevenaswewatchthem.Andeach timewepassfromviewandourwordscan no longer be heardour sermon ends and adecisionaboutthevalueandimportanceweplaceonbeinglikeChristinallwedoandwhateverwesayismade. The problem we facetoday isnot thequantityofChristiansbutthequal-ity.Andifwewanttowinmore,wemustbemore.How different would theworldbeifwhenwe“de-clared God’s glory,” wealso lived God’s glory.Howweliveismoreim-portantthanwords. WhenIfirstcametochurchwithmyyoungdaugh-ter,IgottowitnessGod’shealingpoweronsite.Mydaughter alwayshadaproblemwithpoison ivy andpoisonoak.Anythingofthatnaturethatshecameinthevicinityof,shewouldbreakoutalmostimmediately.Imean,justpassingbyit,notevenincontactwithit,sheliterallywouldswellupandbreakoutsobadly,anditwouldheadstraightforhereyes.Whichmeantdoc-tortimeandinhurry!However,thisservicetime,mydaughterhadalreadycomeincontactwithpoisonivy,rightbeforeservicetime.So,wewentintochurch,nonethewiser.AschurchstartedInoticedthatinthatshorttimeperiod,hereyeshadalreadyalmost swelled to-gether.Aspeoplegatheredaroundforprayer,mylittlegirlgotprayedforandinstantlytheredswellingstartedgoingdown,aroundhereyes,neckandarms.Bythetimechurchwasdismissed,shehadhereyescomplete-lyclearedupwiththeswellinggone.Iamsureshewasgladshemadethechoicetogetprayedfor. Joshua 24:15 -“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”It’sourchoicetoservetheLordorfollowafterouronwillandways.Ifthechoicewemakeisright,wecanrejoiceinit.Ifthechoiceiswrong,wewillhavetosufferthroughwhat-evertheresultsmaybe.
