• The Great Barrier Reef is located in the Coral Sea, off the coast of Queensland, Australia
• It is the world's largest coral reef!!!• It is also one of the seven natural wonders of
the world!!!
How it is used?
• The Great Barrier Reef is an important part of the Aboriginals culture and religion.
• The reef is a very popular for tourists, especially the Whitsunday Islands and Cairns.
• The reef is very important for tourism and it generates over $3 billion per year.
What lives in it?
• Turtles, Nemo (Clownfish), jellyfish, sharks, coral, Groper, sea gulls, starfish, eels, rays etc
• Clownfish hide inside sea anemones. If fish come to eat the clownfish they die of poison from the anemones tentacles.
• All clownfish are born boys and when they get older some turn into girls.
• Clown fish wait for the sea anemone to paralyse its prey and then eat what the sea anemone leaves behind!
• Clown fish keep the sea anemone clean and removes all the dirt from its tentacles
