December is National Read a New Book Month
Open up your mind and let your imagination wander this December during National Read a New
Book month. Reading is a vital part in everyone’s life, whether you are a child or an adult, reading a
book can help your communication skills as well as your vocabulary. Reading should begin at a
young age, by reading stories to your child at night time and teaching them how to recite the alphabet
and sound out words. Once you learn how to read you never forget. It can also help to further your
education or your career. So check-out a new book today!

Talented author Richard Paul Evans has done it again
with his latest Christmas novella “A Winter Dream.”
This amazing tale of jealousy, redemption and
forgiveness is destined to be another bestselling
book. The story is about Joseph Jacobson and the
path his life takes when his own brothers plot
against him. This novella is a modern twist on the
biblical story of Joseph and the coat of many colors.

“Coming Soon…”
In January, the libraries in the Wisconsin Valley Library Service will begin using new library catalog software.
The new software will have a new look, and have many more features that will help you easily find the materials
you need.
The new software, known as “Sierra,” will offer simplified searching options that will allow you to search for an
author, subject or title from the same search box, much like how Google works. You will not need to know exact
spellings of author names or titles to find books… Sierra will offer search suggestions that will help you find
exactly what you’re looking for. Sierra also allows you to see all the books you’ve checked out on a reading list.
In addition to receiving phone messages and email messages, with Sierra you will be able to receive text
messages when books you have requested are ready to be picked up or if you have a book that’s due.
Watch for the new Sierra System coming soon, to your Demmer Library!
Get Cozy with a Good Story!
