The Living WildernessFund
A legacy for
Tongass wilderness
Decades ago, a small group of Sitkans fought hard to leave a legacy of pristine Wilderness.
The Living Wilderness Fund ensures that the voice that gave us the Wilderness Areas we cherish will surround the next generation.
Planned giving sustains the wild world that we have been given and which we have worked to conserve. It gives the next generation a chance to enjoy pure water and clean air in the midst of a natural world that has not been compromised.
The Living Wilderness Fund monitors our natural world, seeking to make it a heritage which spans into the future.

“I have found the most beautiful, most enriching, most exhilarating experiences of my life in the wild country of southeast Alaska. For this I feel immensely privileged. The Living Wilderness Fund is my investment in a
dream--that children born a century from now will have the same privilege to experience these places, surrounded by the same silence and blessed by the same abiding peace."
-Richard Nelson, LWF Donor
The Living Wilderness Fund is an endowment created to honor our founders and celebrate the lives of dedicated supporters of wilderness. A gift to this endowment differs from other charitable contributions in that the fund is invested. The principal will remain untouched and only the interest will be use to support a full-time voice for wilderness protection and advocacy. Any additional annual interest will be put directly toward wilderness conservation projects.
Your gift will last into perpetuity as part of that investment.

or triple your gift. BequestsLeaving a bequest in your will ensures that you will leave a
lasting legacy of wilderness in your memory. The options for
leaving a bequest can be specifically tailored to suit you

total estate, or a portion of your remaining estate after other
bequests have been satisfied.
Gifts of Life Insurance

Options for Giving
Annual GivingPledging a recurring annual gift is an easy
way to build a significant contribution over a period of years and may be more manageable than making
one large contribution.
Gifts of SecuritiesGifts of stock or other securities are a great way to support SCS's wilderness work. Also, there are potential capital gain benefits if
you contribute appreciated securities that you have held for
one year or more.
Gifts of Retirement Plans
If you chose to name LWF as a beneficiary of your pension,
401K, IRA or other retirement plan, you could avoid possible double taxation on retirement plan assets left to your heirs.
For this reason, this can be the most cost-effective planned gift
you can make.
Other Options for Giving
In addition to those options listed here, there are many other
options that may better suite you and your family. Ask your fanacial advisor about these
other ways to give:
