Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to
be consoled as to console; to be understood as to
understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that
we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and
it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

You know that tingly little feeling you get when you really like someone? That's common sense leaving your body.
I didn't make it to the gym today. That makes five years in a row.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John, and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators. We haven't met yet.
Old age is coming at a really bad time.
When I was a child I thought “Nap Time” was a punishment. Now, as a grownup, it feels like a small vacation.
The biggest lie I tell myself is, "I don't need to write that down, I'll remember it."
I don't have grey hair; I have "wisdom highlights." I'm just very wise.
If God wanted me to touch my toes, he would've put them on my knees.
Of course I talk to myself; sometimes I need expert advice.

7/6/16 JOHN H. PHILLIPS, A.W. Windhorst Lodge No. 185, was born in Tampa, Florida. He enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served in the Pacific for two years during World War 2. He then returned to Florida where he worked at his Uncle’s Construction and Plumbing business. The business was connected with the Pipe Fitters Union in several states, and he worked there until his retirement. His interest in buying and selling antiques, led him to open 5 Antique Shops in different states. John has been a Mason for 67 years! John stays busy using his magnifying reading machine. His other interests include traveling, string music, singing, reading the Bible, American Indian history, and gardening. He also considers himself to be a good handyman. Welcome, John to Room #141A!
The residents would like to thank all the Service Guild Members who do so much! Besides the recent
Christmas in July Party, they even gave the Chapel a beautiful cross to display at Sunday Services!

25. She resides in Room #271E. Edna
was born in Swainsboro, Georgia on
January 5th. She had one sibling, Billy,
who died suddenly when he was two years old. Edna was married to
Henry for 68 years. They met in Savannah, Georgia while they were at
a Boarding House visiting a mutual friend. Henry had been recently
discharged from the Army and Edna was attending college. Henry and
Edna were married on October 5, 1947. They had two children;
Tommy and Patty. Tommy lives in Tampa and Patty resides in Utah.
Edna also has four grandchildren, one great-grand child, and one on
the way. Edna worked part-time for the University of South Florida
Credit Union as a Bank Teller and she also worked at the Chamber of
Commerce assisting with Guest Services. Henry worked for the
Railroad Service as a Telegraph Operator and then a Train Dispatcher.
Henry’s job with the railroad required them to move to Florida in
1948. They first lived in Bartow, then moved to Lakeland, and finally
Tampa. When they retired they sold their home and downsized their
lifestyle so they would be able to travel. They traveled all through the
United States and Canada, Nova Scotia, China, Hong Kong and Europe,
among many other places! Sadly, Henry passed away in June of this
year. He was a dear sweet man and is greatly missed by many. Henry
and Edna have always been such great sports dressing up for special
events, especially for Halloween some of their Halloween couple’s
costumes were; Raggedy Ann and Andy, Popeye and Olive Oyl and The
Grinch and Cindy Lou! They were also nominated Valentine King &
Queen in 2013! Edna used to be involved in gardening and she loved
to decorate. She played Bridge, Canasta and tennis with friends and
she was involved in ceramics, sewing and knitting. Now, Edna spends
her quiet time reading and watching television. Her favorite games to
play are Bingo, Blackjack, I Doubt It, Horse Races, Roulette Wheel and
Po-Ke-No. She attends Chapel Services, parties, ice cream socials, and
also Volunteers in the Boutique. Edna likes going on shopping trips
and hunting around for her favorite sweet treats! Everyone is drawn
into Edna’s fun-loving personality... needless to say she is loved by
everyone and we are so lucky to have her as a part of our family!
