CORONATION
t was early in the morning when
Elizabeth's father, King George VI,
died. Now, the new monarch who
would be on the throne was
Princess Elizabeth's.
The last time that Lilibeth saw her
father alive was before her
departure to Kenya, Africa. She
would never see him again
Some days after, the King passed
away. But did you know that,
conventionally, she wasn't
supposed to be coronated?
Why not?
At that time, women were not
supposed to be in charge of the
monarchy. When Princess Elizabeth
was born, her parents knew that
because of C-Section operation,
they would have little chance to have
more children, such as a boy. But in
1930, the Royal family expanded :
Princess Margaret was born. Thanks
to the birth of her sister, PrincessElizabeth would be the Queen
because of her uncle's abdication,
years later.
Why and how?
From Princess Elizabeth to QueenElizabeth IIIn 1953,Princess Lilibeth became the new Queen of theUnited Kingdom. Why did she become the Queen? Howdid it happen?
I
Official portrait of thenew Queen, Elizabeth II
DID YOU KNOW?
Her Majesty repeatedher coronation. When she knew that she wouldbe the new monarch, shedecided to repeat and repeather coronation day. Why?She wanted to broadcast herinvestiture on the throne andshe wanted to do it like herfather, King George VI. Monthsbefore this important ceremony,
she learnt by heart the routineof her coronation day in front ofher eldest son, Prince Charles, the future King.
Royal Britain - June 2016
One year after King George VI's
death, on June 2nd 1953, Elizabeth
II became the Queen of the U.K.
This ceremony was a big success in
the world. It was the first British
Royal ceremony to be broadcasted.
Thanks to this event, 3.2 million TV's
were sold in the world, to watch this
event.
The Queen was coronated in the
Abbey of Westminster, like her
father. Her children, Charles and
Anne, were present during their
mother's investiture on the Royal
throne. After her passage in theAbbey, Elizabeth saluted the British
people with her Royal salut.
And now?
Elizabeth is still the Queen of the
U.K. In 2015, became the Longest
British Reigning Monarch. When will
Charles become the King? Will she
abdicate or die? The future will tell
us.

The Queen's Christmas message is abroadcast made by the sovereign of theCommonwealth realm to theCommonwealth Nations everyChristmas.
How did it all begin ?
Now that we know what is theChristmas message, let's ask us animportant question: How did it all begin? The idea was first suggested by amember of the BBC, John Reith.
She maintained traditions
but she has also moved with the times
THE ROYAL CHRISTMAS MESSAGE
This year message, read from the
Long Library at Sandringham
House, was the first to be broadcast
and was also the 25th anniversary of

milestone and the advance of
technology that allowed her
message to be viewed in her
subjects' homes. She added thatwhile change might be bewildering,
it is important to hold on to ageless

Westminster Abbey is located in the
heart of London, near the Thames.
It is a huge church, of 225 feet high,
which was built in the 13th century,
under the reign of Henri III, a
mission given to Henry of Reyns.
This famous abbey, known for its
gothic style and as the symbol of
anglican religion, is ranked asUNESCO World Heritage site.
The most important events which
took place in Westminster Abbey are
recorded by the BBC since Queen
Elizabeth's coronation, mostly
events which are related to the royal
family
Indeed, the abbey is used to be the
coronation church since 1066, but
also it is the final resting place of the17 English monarchs. As a result,
Westminster Abbey is seems to be
an important place in the English

Situated in West London

district where circulate
thousands of tourists in
London.
The name of Mayfair
comes from a cattle fair that
took place in the district from

because of the mess caused
by the animals. After that, it
will be wished by the
Londonian bourgeoisie, who
was too cramped in the

Mayfair is an animated
district with an importanteconomy and yet there is not
any London underground
station and only 1 bus route.

Queen Elizabeth II wasborn in this district, onthe 21st of April 1926.
Since then, she eats alot in fancy restaurantsin Mayfair.

St James's ParkIn 1532, Henri VIII bought the college of Eton (situated in Westminster)
to build a magnificent park that was reserved to welcome the kings and
queens of the other countries. But the king got bored and decided to
abandon the project. Luckily, one hundred years later, the young king
Charles II, fascinated by the beauty of the french palaces, decided to
renew the park into a french looking garden. For the occasion, he
demanded to a french gardener, Andr Mollet, to draw the plans of the
new St Jame's Park. Soon the park was finished and it was the pride of
the king. But unfortunately, during the first world war, the British driedup the lake of the park so that the Germans couldn't use the lake as a
landmark to destroy Buckingham palace. Don't worry, now park's lake
has been filled up and there it is one of the most visited places in
London .
