President Zuzana called us all to order just a
touch before 7 a.m. and by the time her ram-
bunctious group settled down we were right on
time.
Don Bell led us in a spirited version of O Cana-
da and Art Sumner promptly followed with
Grace for our breakfast. President Zuzana
decided on a worthy Plate shiner in Bill Hope,
who seemed shocked and amazed that he
would be bestowed with
such an honour.

President’s Message:
President Zuzana thanked the Club Executive Team for their help and support for the first
three quarters of her Presidency and reminded us of the great events still to come in the final
quarter of the current Rotary year.
Public Image Report:
Jim Coyle (the sole committee member) reported that he was working with the Golf Commit-
tee and ARF on a media release to profile the RCCHP Golf Tournament. He had also added
information on the Golf Tournament to the Club’s Facebook page, distributed information on
the RCCHP Golf Tournament to all the Club Presidents in District 5360, and had the Tourna-
ment listed on the Calgaryarea.com website. Jim has investigated advertising our Club in
community newspapers but found it cost prohibitive.
International Service:
Jim Sawers (Chair) listed the Club members on the committee and reported:
As reported previously HHG global grant application was unfortunately abandoned.

Happy Bucks
With all the Committee reports delivered President Zuzana asked for Happy Bucks. A number of members
were happy to donate a buck to acknowledge the excellent fireside chat hosted by Sheila Tyminski. Many
others commented on how enjoyable the Pot Luck dinner was (organized by Holly Drake with moral support
from Graham). Bob Clark was happy to have seen the Texas rock band ZZ Top recently, Zuzana thanked
Wynne for a wonderful “Guess who is coming to dinner?” evening and Peter Pallesen paid a buck for the priv-
ilege of telling a joke which he proceeded to do.
The Sheriff
Mark Rowe took on the role with obvious zeal. He fined Joan for being late and Sheila for being border line
late. His next victim was Harry Kim who he fined for bragging that he would win the hole-in-one contest at
the RCCHP golf tournament. He wrapped up by fining Peter Pallesen for telling a joke out of turn.
Sheila presented our favourite Heritage Park server with a sympathy card signed by RCCHP members and
expressed our deepest sympathies for the loss of her daughter.
Doris (exchange student)
Doris proceeded to update us on her activities over the past month or so since she last graced us with her
presences. Doris had joined her 3rd host family and had been struck by a cold for the last five days. Prior to
that she had enjoyed trips to Sylvan Lake, Lethbridge and Fernie. Doris had also had an enjoyable time vol-
unteering at the Rotary Club of Calgary North’s “Dinner with Collin James” event recently. She also shared a
little known fact – that she had something in common with a recent Oscar winning actor – Matthew McCo-
naughey was also an exchange student in his youth! Our Doris is almost famous!

Thought for the day
President Zuzana closed out the meeting with the following wise advice….
He grabbed her hand and held it tightly, and she thought, “He loves me!” He thought “wow this sidewalk is icy!”
