NOTE FROM PASTOR REBECCA
Elkhorn Hills UMC Members & Friends,
I wanted to let you know, in case you have missed our other formal announcements, that I
have requested a change in status (a personal leave of absence) for this coming 2019-2020 ap-
pointive year. That means a new pastor will be appointed to serve here at Elkhorn Hills UMC
starting on July 1st
, 2019 – my last Sunday will be June 16th. The Board of Ordained Ministry
and our Bishop have already approved this request, and our District Superintendent will be
working closely with our SPRC (Staff-Parish Relations Committee) on the next steps.
We will share the information about those next steps with you as soon as that process begins –
look for more details in the Shout and the Bulletin.
Some of you have asked why I made the decision to take a leave, and the truth is that I have
had a growing sense (for several years) that God is calling me to use my gifts and serve in
some new ways. My plans for the next year are still being finalized, but I am more than likely
staying in the Omaha area to do some non-profit work.
I am so grateful for the opportunity I have had to serve here in Elkhorn. I believe we have
done some really great work together, and my hope is that those good things will continue
well into the future! God bless you as you celebrate 35 years of ministry later this year and
again, thank you for all of the ways that you have encouraged me and supported me these
past 2 years. It has been a joy!
In Christ, Pastor Rebecca

General Conference Updates
Special General Conference – February 23rd-26th in St. Louis Please keep Pastor Rebecca and the other delegates from our Great Plains Conference in your prayers as they travel to St. Louis for the Special General Conference. There have been months of planning and preparation leading up to this conversation about the full inclusion of our LGBTQ+ brothers, sisters, neighbors, and friends. We have had a TownHall Meeting with Bishop Saenz in our District, our church committees have been talking about the proposed plans and our UM structure for decision making, and our conversation as a congregation will continue after the General Conference as well. Please pray for a spirit of openness, a spirit of unity, and a spirit of love for all who will be discerning the United Methodist Church’s future as it relates to our open hearts, open minds, and open doors. Thank you!
TRUSTEE TIDBITS
Trustees worked together with EHUMC youth to update the senior high room after it sustained water damage last Fall. Go down and check out the fresh paint and the beautiful new flooring. Other projects competed to finish off 2018...the final window replacements in the education wing and light bulb replacement in parking lot. In 2019 we are looking to repaint the church exterior and FLC interior walls and HVAC unit re-placement for the Sanctuary units. Big projects but with everyone's help and support they can get done. We thank everyone for being good stewards of our church building and ground that is used daily by so many. 2019 Trustee Committee: Randy Bruner-Chairperson; Bob Heliker, Lena Beeson, Phil Ward, Teri Tillman, Jeb
Christiansen, Howard Bergman, Jim Martin, Todd Langan, Valerie Haase

Greetings from the Worship Committee & Music Ministries!Greetings from the Worship Committee & Music Ministries!Greetings from the Worship Committee & Music Ministries!Greetings from the Worship Committee & Music Ministries!
THANK YOU!!! Another holiday season has come and gone! Thank you to all the volunteers who were available to help for the Hanging and the Un-Hanging of the greens! Also I would like to thank all of the wonderful volunteers who helped Mar-lana Walla & Meri Hoover make the Children’s Nativity Sets! There are still some sets available for purchase if you would like more. I would like to also send a big THANK YOU to Carol Campbell for helping out and being an amazing accompanist for our 9:00 services during January! USHER/GREETER SCHEDULER NEEDED! As you may have read, Pastor Rebecca mentioned that we are currently look-ing for a new person to help make the Usher/Greeter schedule. Schedules have already been made through the end of May, so there is more than enough time to get a new schedule up and running for the beginning of our 1 service summer sched-ule. Please contact the office or Tyler Hughes if you are interested in helping us out with this schedule. AUDIO / VIDEO VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! We would love to have a list of more individuals who are able to run our slide show and also control the sound board for our services at EHUMC. Training is very easy, and would only take 1 hour of your time! At the moment we have 3 trained individuals on our regular rotation. We would love to have three more for a steady rotation with substitutes. If interested, please talk to Tyler Hughes or one of the A/V techs before or after services. CALLING ALL SINGERS! It is crazy to think that we are already thinking about Easter Music! Our Easter Cantata this year is scheduled for Palm Sunday, April 14th, 2019 at both the 9:00 and 10:30 service. We invite any and all to join us on Wednesday Nights to rehearse for preparation of the Cantata. The Easter Cantata Rehearsals will officially begin Wednes-day, February 20th (more details to come later). We would also love to have to on a regular basis singing with the Chancel Choir and / or the Praise Team during our Sunday Services. If you are interest in joining our Music Ministries, please come talk to one of our wonderful musicians you see leading music on Sundays.

The middle of winter, . . . That’s what we’re in right now. And there’s nothing we can do about it ! But you know what? There actually is something we can do about it. We can just not worry about it. We can go everywhere we want, enjoy the sights and sounds of winter. See movies, visit friends and generally enjoy ourselves. But, we do not have to worry about it. No matter what we do or say, spring will come and it will be gorgeous ! This philosophy applies to many things in our lives!
