Evaporation and Drying Technology
General Definition:
Transition from liquid to vapor phase
Related to our applications:
Separation of volatiles frommixtures or relative thin slurriesby evaporation of this fraction.
The remaining product will bea liquid or a dry product.

Properties of sensitive products:
• Heat sensitivity
• Viscosity
• Foaming
• Fouling
• Solids in product

Requirements for gentle separation process bythermal evaporation:
• Short residence time
• Low temperatures
• High heat flux
• High evaporation rates
• Continuous agitation of the film forcleaning and heat transfer purpose
This leads to Thin Film Evaporation and Drying technology.
![Page 6: Thin film evaporation and drying](https://reader034.vdocument.in/reader034/viewer/2022042611/5878aa671a28ab82408b7f05/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)

SMS thin-film evaporation technologyquickly
separates volatiles from less volatile components
using indirect heat transfer and
mechanical agitation of a flowing product film
within a short treatment time
under controlled conditions.

Solution for temperature sensitive products
Special requirements of the product mixture:
• Very high boiling temperature of volatiles• Temperature sensitive components
Very low vacuum has to be applied:
≥ 0,001 mbar (abs)
This pressure range cannot be handled by
Thin Film Evaporators with external condensers!
![Page 10: Thin film evaporation and drying](https://reader034.vdocument.in/reader034/viewer/2022042611/5878aa671a28ab82408b7f05/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
