Kyle Pignatiello signs letter of intent to play football at UD
Tippecanoe Athletics and Tippecanoe Football are very proud to announce
the college signing of senior Kyle Pignatiello On Wednesday February
23rd
2011 Kyle signed his letter of intent to play football for the
University of Dayton
Tippecanoe High School Head Football Coach Charlie Burgbacher
congratulated Pignatiello and said ldquoKyle had a plan and a backup plan He
is a kicker who can also tacklerdquo

Fair on Thursday February 17 2011 There
were twenty-nine Science Fair projects and
fourteen of them received a Superior rating
and fifteen received an Excellent rating

The THS Winter Guard won 3rd
Place
Last weekend the THS Winter Guard
placed 3rd
at their competition at
Kettering High School In addition to 3rd
place their overall score increased by
more than 18 points
The THS Winter Drumline has placed 1st
at both of their competitions this season
Both the Winter Drumline and the
Winter Guard will compete at Bellbrook
High School this Sunday
The Spanish Class learns to Dance
The Spanish 3 amp 4 students attended a special immersion
lunch provided by El Mesoacuten in West Carrollton on Thursday
Feb 17th
First the students enjoyed a typical Hispanic lunch
consisting of ldquoPollo Aguascalientesrdquo which is a chicken and
rice dish from the Aguascalientes region of Mexico In
addition they had black beans fried plantains and yuca root
which are typical foods from the Caribbean and Latin
America For dessert they enjoyed ldquoMoros con dulce de
lecherdquo This is a blackberry dessert sweetened with caramel

presentation and discussion
with the students in Spanish
and then taught them some
typical dances It was a fun
hands-on cultural experience
greatly enjoyed by the

Spotlight on Tippecanoe Middle School Sixth grade students at Tippecanoe Middle School of the Tipp City Exempted Village Schools have
worked with the local Veterans of Foreign War organization to make an
annual bus trip to the nationrsquos capital memorable for local veterans A
highlight of the trip to tour war monuments and other sites is a ldquoMail Callrdquo
activity when trip leaders distribute letters poems and pictures created by
students For the past three years Tippecanoe teachers Linda Ares and
Andrea McKinney have worked with their sixth-grade students to create
ldquogoodie bagsrdquo for the Mail Call The students decorate the bags and fill
each one with candy small games pencils letters notes poems and a
compact disc with WW II-era music Greg Southers Tippecanoe principal said ldquoThis is a great learning
opportunity for our kids to see first-hand the people who have served their country during a time that
they can only read aboutrdquo Southers said the veterans have sent the school photographs and thank-you
letters expressing how much the simple gifts meant to them The students are pictured above filling

Class representatives for the LT Ball Relay For Life attended the Tipp
Rotary meeting to share a PowerPoint presentation about the upcoming
Tipp City Relay For Life on May 13 The Relay For Life will include a
festival setting for children and families with many fun challenges and
activities musical performances and an organized 5K Run as well as many
Cancer education booths Presentations have also been given to the
Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Tipp City Partnership
Students hope that the community will join in our efforts to beat Cancer

Nightsrdquo for all parents and students involved in sports at any level ndash youth through high school
These education nights will be very informative for all parents of elementary middle school or high
school students
The first will be held on Tuesday March 15 at 730 in the High School Auditorium The topic of
night will be ldquoSports Specialization vs Multi Sport Participationrdquo Our high school athletic director
Mr Matt Shomper will be the presenter for this evening of education Mr Shomper presented this
topic to athletic directors at the 2010 National Athletic Administration Conference The presentation
will cover the pros and cons of sport specialization and multi sport participation
The second will be held on Thursday June 2 at 730 in the High School Auditorium The topic of
the night will be ldquoCollege Recruiting Processrdquo It is never too early to educate yourself about the
college recruiting process even if you are a parent of an elementary school child Almost every
parent of a student that went on to participate in college athletics wished that they educated
themselves and started the college recruiting process earlier than their Junior and Senior year More
information about this presentation will be available as we get closer to the event
These education nights will be replacing the Booster Social Nights at Harrisons
Earn College and High School Credit at the same time - Any student who would like to earn
college and high school credits while taking classes here during the school day please sign up in the
front office Next school year students will be able to take online courses through Sinclair
Community College and not have to leave the building The cost is 8250 for one credit hour and
course credits may be able to transfer to other universities and colleges Placement testing will take
place on March 15th starting at 8 am Students will need to fill out an application for enrollment into
Sinclair before they will be allowed to take the placement test

of Cincinnatirsquos finest will take on members of the Tipp City community Game time for this exhibition

Spotlight on Tippecanoe Middle School Sixth grade students at Tippecanoe Middle School of the Tipp City Exempted Village Schools have
worked with the local Veterans of Foreign War organization to make an
annual bus trip to the nationrsquos capital memorable for local veterans A
highlight of the trip to tour war monuments and other sites is a ldquoMail Callrdquo
activity when trip leaders distribute letters poems and pictures created by
students For the past three years Tippecanoe teachers Linda Ares and
Andrea McKinney have worked with their sixth-grade students to create
ldquogoodie bagsrdquo for the Mail Call The students decorate the bags and fill
each one with candy small games pencils letters notes poems and a
compact disc with WW II-era music Greg Southers Tippecanoe principal said ldquoThis is a great learning
opportunity for our kids to see first-hand the people who have served their country during a time that
they can only read aboutrdquo Southers said the veterans have sent the school photographs and thank-you
letters expressing how much the simple gifts meant to them The students are pictured above filling

Class representatives for the LT Ball Relay For Life attended the Tipp
Rotary meeting to share a PowerPoint presentation about the upcoming
Tipp City Relay For Life on May 13 The Relay For Life will include a
festival setting for children and families with many fun challenges and
activities musical performances and an organized 5K Run as well as many
Cancer education booths Presentations have also been given to the
Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Tipp City Partnership
Students hope that the community will join in our efforts to beat Cancer

will cover the pros and cons of sport specialization and multi sport participation
The second will be held on Thursday June 2 at 730 in the High School Auditorium The topic of
the night will be ldquoCollege Recruiting Processrdquo It is never too early to educate yourself about the
college recruiting process even if you are a parent of an elementary school child Almost every
parent of a student that went on to participate in college athletics wished that they educated
themselves and started the college recruiting process earlier than their Junior and Senior year More
information about this presentation will be available as we get closer to the event
These education nights will be replacing the Booster Social Nights at Harrisons
Earn College and High School Credit at the same time - Any student who would like to earn
college and high school credits while taking classes here during the school day please sign up in the
front office Next school year students will be able to take online courses through Sinclair

Mr Matt Shomper will be the presenter for this evening of education Mr Shomper presented this
topic to athletic directors at the 2010 National Athletic Administration Conference The presentation
will cover the pros and cons of sport specialization and multi sport participation
The second will be held on Thursday June 2 at 730 in the High School Auditorium The topic of
the night will be ldquoCollege Recruiting Processrdquo It is never too early to educate yourself about the
college recruiting process even if you are a parent of an elementary school child Almost every
parent of a student that went on to participate in college athletics wished that they educated
themselves and started the college recruiting process earlier than their Junior and Senior year More
information about this presentation will be available as we get closer to the event
These education nights will be replacing the Booster Social Nights at Harrisons
Earn College and High School Credit at the same time - Any student who would like to earn
college and high school credits while taking classes here during the school day please sign up in the
front office Next school year students will be able to take online courses through Sinclair
Community College and not have to leave the building The cost is 8250 for one credit hour and
course credits may be able to transfer to other universities and colleges Placement testing will take
place on March 15th starting at 8 am Students will need to fill out an application for enrollment into
Sinclair before they will be allowed to take the placement test

The Cincinnati Bengals are coming to Tippecanoe High School On March 11 2011 several members
of Cincinnatirsquos finest will take on members of the Tipp City community Game time for this exhibition
basketball game is 700 pm in the high school gymnasium Proceeds will go to support the Tippecanoe
Baseball Program
We are recruiting sponsors for this exciting and fun-filled event While each member of the baseball
program will be selling tickets to the event and var ious raffles will take place throughout the evening

Congratulations to the 9th
grade girls team for winning the Western Brown Tournament
The varsity girls basketball team will play in the Sectional Final this Saturday February 26 at 100 vs
Kenton Ridge Please note that this is a change in game time from the originally published time The
girls sectional tournament is played at Xenia High School Tickets are on sale for the tournament
games All tickets are $600 in advance and 50 of all presale revenue comes back to Tipp Tickets at
the gate will be $700 So save yourself $1 per ticket and have the OHSAA return $3 per ticket
back to Tippecanoe by purchasing your tournament tickets in advance Tickets are available at
Clarkrsquos the Booster Fan Store and the High School Athletic Office until 90 minutes before game time
