April 2014
Brothers All,Well another Elk year has come and gone. Well the month of March started out with the Special Children’s Committee Charity Ball held at the Gramercy in Hazlet. There were approximately 140 people in attendance, including our State President Robert Ricker and his wife Pam, our District Deputy Tom Troutman and our District Vice President Jimmy Coyne and his wife Teri. A great time was had by all, Mike Veth did a great job putting the night together. On March 5th the Special Children’s Committee held its monthly spaghetti dinner. The dinner was meatless lasagna made by Rich Bryk. On March 9th we held our Youth Activities Breakfast. There were over 50 people in attendance. Youth Activities Chairman Brian Connors handed out the Awards to all our Scholarship, Soccer Shoot and Batter Up winners. Hoop Shoot Chairman Mike Veth was there to hand out the awards to our two Hoop Shoot winners. We held our annual St. Patrick’s Day party on March 17th. A big thanks goes out to Bill Gerrardi in cutting up all that corn beef. On March 21st and 22nd, myself, Hoop Shoot Committee Chairman Mike Veth, Chuck Bolin, Donald Anderson and Rich Centanni went out to Wilkes-Barre, PA to support our two Hoop Shoot winners. Sarah Karpell finished 2nd in the 12-13 age group and her sister Julia Karpell finished 3rd in the 8-9 age
group. Congratulations girls you both represented Middletown Elks incredibly. On March 22nd the Ladies Auxiliary held there installation of officers. I would like to congratulate all of Carol Goodbody officers and wish them the best in the upcoming year. Also that evening there was an unfortunate incident that happened. One of our members, Ed Foster, had to be taken out in an ambulance do to a heart attack. At the time of this writing Eddie is
doing well. I’m sure in another couple of weeks he will be back at his usual spot at
the lodge. On March 29th was the installation of officers for the lodge. There was a full house in attendance with about 230 people. The kitchen crew was kept very busy. I would like to congratulate Al and his officers and wish them the best in the upcoming year.At this time I would like to thank the membership for allowing me the opportunity in representing our lodge over the last year. I believe it was a quiet year and no incidents. I would like to thank my officers for their support through the year. All the committee chairman and their work they have done to keep our lodge the premiere lodge. Running this lodge is far from a one man show. It takes all to make it work, from the officers to the committee chairman to the members to their spouses. Without all the help and support it would be impossible to
