There is tremendous opportunity and unmet technology need in the NGO sector.
• 10+ million NGOs employing a workforce of 47.6M contributing 5.9% of total GDP.
• Economic crisis, changes in technology and lack of in-house technology management elevate need
• Gap exists between nonprofit needs and technology product donor capabilities
• Access required but context is key: local tech “know-how” and support
• The contributions of many are leveraged – and the technology is used to develop services which promote digital inclusion aims

Why is technology important for NGO’s?
• Efficiency– Focus on core work
• Transparency– Credibility – Respect – Influence
• Visibility– Volunteers– Donors – Funders
![Page 6: TiB 2010 - Palestra TechSoup Global](https://reader034.vdocument.in/reader034/viewer/2022042607/559b8ab61a28ab7f158b4700/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
If so important, why don’t NGO’s take advantage of technology?
• We don’t know what we need…• We don’t know how to get what we need… • We don’t know what tool is most effective…• We don’t have budget…• We don’t know who to trust…
