Selection setscoordination concept
- Concept introduction and write-ups- Process integration within a selected project- Tech leading and QC
- Project parameters
- Selection sets
- Trade model - source of basic coordination information
- Instance data - tool of information exchange mechanism
- Instance priority and coordination status visualization within each system
- Coordination phases progression set up from global to micro level
- Coordination scope boundaries definition for each specific clash detection pass
- Potential coordination time decrease
Соst-based system priority approach in multi-disciplinary coordination is a common basis of conflicts resolution process, but often it gets too hard to communicate all project milestones and concerns in order to get all parties up todate constantly. In fact it is not enough for all participants to be aware of system priority basics and have a general idea of how the third party trade should look like. It ends up with tons of emails and discussions and, what is even more critical, with a lot of invalid clashes and time waste, when there are ways to make the process more efficient.
Idea is simple - each system has an owner as well as the model does... Obviously a plumber is better in his gravity piping than an electrician or a drywaller (We are not talking of clash detection team even, as it just prepares basic coordination material and does not have all required knowledge to cover all disciplines subtleties). Who is responsible then? As the owner of certain model knows his scope better, as well as the elements that take priority over the rest of his content, he should share this information with the rest of the team by setting his model properly, instead of doing that verbally or using standard communication tools and procedures.
Information should be included to the same model that is used for clash detection. The model can be driven to a level where a project parameter data represents full information about the scope that is already coordinated or requires processing, as well as elements priority within a specific trade. This way we are getting a parametric model which is not only a source of 3D data, but also of information required for all contributors (elements priority within the model, conflicts status and coordination statistics... )
Moving models to a parametric field should become a common practice for everyone. It is time to keep information in one place!
