• To stimulate working knowledge of TORCH umbrella programs within the society’s leadership and membership
• Publish member resources for TORCH implementation in chapter level programs
• Increased exposure within and outside of the society of TORCH programs

What does it take to start TORCH?
• Decide who you want to serve– K- 8th grade– 8th-12th grade– Adults– Seniors– Community agency
• Decide what programs to offer– What subsection do they fall?– Check the TORCH website and handbook for ideas!
• Decide where to offer your programs– At your college or university– Community center– Public Library– School

Volunteers, Funding and Participation
• Get your chapter involved!– Use membership incentive programs– Do a volunteer challenge– Integrate in regular chapter activities
• Fund your TORCH program– Fundraise– Apply to the National TORCH & Programs Funds– Don’t be afraid to start small with no funds
• Community participation– Work with community based organizations– Advertise in local newspaper– Visit schools, community centers, and churches
