Registration Procedures Orientation Sessions
ANDIndividual Registration
will take place in Student English Classes
• Students who have English 1st semester will register between December 17- January 4.
• Students who have English 2nd semester will register between January 30 – February 8.
Future - Ready Core Requirements
• English ~ I, II, III, & IV
• Math ~ Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, & a 4th Math aligned with the student’s post high school plans
• Science ~ Earth/Environmental, a Physical Science, Biology, and Chemistry is optional and highly recommended for those attending a four-year college or university
• History ~ World History, Civics/Econ., & US History OR American History I & II
• Foreign Lang. ~ 2 credits of the same language required for admission to a 4 year college/university, but NOT for graduation
• Physical Ed. ~ 1 credit & it must be Health/PE
• Electives ~ 2 credits from either: CTE, Arts Education, or Second Languages. Also, it is “strongly recommended” that students have a 4 course concentration from one of the following: CTE, JROTC, or Arts Education
• Student must have 26 credits to graduate
HC Schools Recommended Math Sequence
Promotion Requirements• Must have 26 credits to graduate
• Must have 18 credits to be classified as a Senior
• Must have 12 credits to be classified as a Junior
• Must have 6 credits to be classified as a Sophomore

• Interest inventories available to assist with potential careers.
• A place to track high school courses and map out future coursework.
NC Scholars Program• Overall unweighted GPA at the end of your Senior year must be a 3.5
• Science Requirement – must be Physics OR Chemistry
• In addition to the graduation requirements:
– Two levels in the same Foreign Language– Four elective credits with a concentration recommended from one of the
following:• CTE• JROTC• ARTS EDUCATION• FOREIGN LANGUAGE• ANY OTHER SUBJECT AREA
• In addition to the previous requirements, 3 courses must be considered “higher level” which means that they carry 5 or 6 quality points and they must be taken during the Junior or Senior year.
Early Graduation
• Must have completed 22 credits at the beginning of the senior year
• Early Graduation forms are due at time of registration
Flex Period• Senior must have completed 21 credits at the
beginning of their senior year• Seniors will have the option to Flex both
semesters next year• Must be in good academic standing• Student must leave and/or arrive on campus at
the designated time• Students must be able to provide their own
RELIABLE transportation• A parent MUST sign a Flex form. Forms are due
at time of registration.
Online CoursesNCVPS
• Students must receive approval that space is available in the desired class.
• Once enrolled, students must remain in the course for the full semester/year.
• Students enrolled in year-long courses will be awarded one (1) credit for the course even though the coursework consumes a full block period each semester.
• Students enrolled in an AP course will be required to take the AP exam (no exceptions).
• Some courses may involve hands-on activities facilitated by the school’s faculty.

Career and College Promise (CCP)
• Qualified NC high school students can begin their two- or four-year college work, TUITION FREE, while they are in high school allowing them to get a head start on their workplace and college preparation.
• In Harnett County, CCP provides two pathways– the College Transfer Pathway – the Technical Career Pathway
• Students interested in Career and College Promise must request an application from their counselor prior to the time of registration.
• Students will not be permitted to take CCP courses until the applications are returned with the student and parent signature.
CCP ~ College Transfer Pathway Eligibility
Requirements• Must be a Jr or Sr• Must have a 3.0 GPA• Must have demonstrated college readiness on an approved
assessment (ex:PLAN, PSAT, SAT, or ACT)• Test PLAN PSAT ACT SAT

• CCCC gives COMPASS, ASSET, and ACCUPLACER placement tests that would also demonstrate college readiness.
• All classes are taken online at THS • Students/Parents are responsible for the cost of any textbooks
that are required for the chosen course
CCP ~ Technical Career Pathway Eligibility Requirements
• Must be a junior or a senior
• Students must have a 3.0 GPA or principal recommendation
• Students must meet course requirements
• Students will earn HS and College credit for all courses taken in the program
• These courses will be taken:• Either at THS or on the Lillington CCCC campus
– students must be able to provide their own transportation
• Harnett County Schools will provide all textbooks that are required for the students but any student fees will be the student responsibility (fees range from $1.25-$6.00 per class)
Schedule Changes• Much attention is given to careful course selection and creating a master schedule
which allows the greatest number of students the best schedule possible. • A drop/add period will be scheduled during the summer before school begins.
• The dates of drop/add will be included with the student course selections mailed home during the summer.
• Changes will ONLY be made for the following reasons: – If a student received a course for which he/she did not register or list as an
alternate– If a student failed a course required for graduation and is not rescheduled for
that course– To balance a students’ academic load.
