and said to them, "If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all." Taking a child, he placed it in their midst, and putting his arms around it, he said to them, "Whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me." Please attend our next meeting to find out the Saint Vincent de Paul Society on Thursday October 18, 2018 at 6:45pm at Saint Paul

LOTS: LIVES OF THE SAINTS Saint Vincent de Paul
Saint Vincent De Paul, one of six children, was born in 1581 in Pouy, France, to French peasants. A gifted student from an early age, by the age of fourteen he gained acceptance to the Franciscan college at Dax to study for the priesthood and furthered his education at the University of Toulouse in theology. He was ordained in 1600 before the age of twenty. There are varying stories of his captivity by pirates while returning from a trip to Marseilles. Upon return, he undertook a secret mission for Henry IV in 1609 and served as a chaplain to Queen Margaret of Valois in Paris. St. Vincent de Paul was an admirer and friend of St. Francis de Sales, known for his intellect and wisdom, and in 1618 became a disciple of Francis. St. Vincent de Paul was a tutor for the household of Count de Gondi, 1613-1625, where he began his ministry to the slaves of the galley. He founded the Congregation of the Mission, devoted to working among the peasants that spread all over France as well as parish confraternities that operated on behalf of assisting the poor. In 1633, along with Louise de Marillac, St. Vincent de Paul founded the Sisters of Charity. He also established hospitals, seminaries, orphanages and provided relief for victims of war, as well as instruction for priest whom he sent abroad to preach. He was canonized by Pope Clement XII in 1737. St. Vincent de
Paul is the patron saint of all charitable groups. His feast day is September 27. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a charitable organization established in 1833, is a lay Catholic organization serving those in need.

FAMILY MASS MUSICIANS
Children and adults blend voice and instruments to praise the Lord and enrich our Sunday 9am Family Mass with upbeat, child-friendly, hand-clapping hymns. During the school year, we rehearse each Sunday morning at 8:00am in the music office on the lower level of the church to prepare for that day’s 9:00am Mass (no need to commit to every Sunday). We also prepare special liturgies for Grade Level Masses, Advent, Christmas, Lent, Palm Sunday, Easter, and Pentecost. All ages, grade 1 and older, are welcome! We are always seeking new singers and instrumentalists to join our ranks. For more information please contact Maria Wardwell at 781-237-2148 or [email protected]

GIRL SCOUT TROOP 73848
St. Paul Girl Scouts started their 12th year this past weekend! Our theme this year is a Harry Potter House Cup Tournament so it was only fitting that our opening event was a Welcome Back to School banquet and a Sorting Hat Ceremony- complete with House Parents, Prefects and Head Girls! Our very special Hogwarts Choir performed the school song. In October we are off to Diagon Alley for some "robe" making, Ollivander's wand shop and Flourish and Blott's for some map making skills. We are looking forward to the Mass next Sunday- we will be joining with Build the Faith to sell rosaries. In addition, we will also have some fun activities and other events going on- so please come by and visit us! St. Paul Girl Scout Troop is always welcoming new members! ST. PAUL CATHOLIC MEN’S FELLOWSHIP GROUP Who Are We? What do we discuss? What is the commitment? How do I join? The St. Paul Catholic Men’s Fellowship Group is an adult faith formation group. Participants desire to learn more about our Faith and connect it to their living experiences. Meeting take place around selected books and readings. There is open discussion in a friendly, prayerful way. We look at scriptural selections and readings, lives of the saints, investigation and discussion of Church issues, Papal encyclicals and Church history. We meet twice a month in the St. Paul Parish Hall beginning in the fall. Meetings begin at 7:30pm and usually last one hour. Whether introvert or extrovert participants assimilate easily and participate at their own pace and comfort level. One can attend a meeting and simply observe and listen. As in any new group people become more comfortable as they get to know each other. The group is for everyone interested in continuing their faith journey in a meaningful way. We are from all walks of life with many experiences to share. It is also an opportunity to discuss modern culture in light of Catholic tradition.
Our success is: We pray. This is the Holy Spirit’s group not ours! We learn and grow in our Faith We make friends and build friendships What do you get out of it? Come and find out! We cordially invite all men of the Parish Collaborative to come and participate. Meet Father Donohoe-“I am with you; wherever you are, wherever you go, I am with you.”Father Stephen Donohoe embraced a vocation to serve as a priest of the Archdiocese of Boston. As a young man, he felt the first signs of God’s presence in the Holy Eucharist; that force would become what he describes today as “the bedrock of his priesthood.”
After ordination, Father Donohoe became a military chaplain. During deployment, he provided for the spiritual needs of men and women facing combat. He never abandoned those entrusted to his care and stood by them at every point. Father Donohoe continues this steadfast ministry today in the parishes of the Archdiocese. He says “a great joy of ministry is to see the grace of God enlighten the lives of other people. If we bring people to the Lord, He’ll do everything.”
To help ensure priests like Father Donohoe are cared for as they live out their vocation, please support the special collection on September 15-16.
