A critical partner of both East and West, Turkey is the world's 12th-largest economy and home to more than 80 million people. In the 21st Century, Turkey has undergone tremendous societal and economic transformations, positioned itself as a source of regional stability, and provided safe haven to more international refugees than any other country in the world. Yet there remains limit-ed understanding of modern Turkey, its society, its culture, and its dreams and aspirations.
UNDERSTANDING MODERN TURKEY THROUGH FILM, LITERATURE, AND MEDIA will o�er students greater insight into modern Turkey. Whether preparing for a business or diplomatic career in the region, or seeking a greater understanding of regional politics, economics, history, and sociology, students will embark on a fun and exciting evalua-tion of modern Turkey via a wide range of media and sensory experiences including �lm, literature, print and broadcast media, music, and cuisine.
