Comprehensive university The University of Silesia in Katowice is one of the largest and most dynamically developing public universities in Poland. The University offers bachelors, masters, and doctoral studies, as well as postgraduate courses designed to improve professional and personal skills. To commercialize results of scientific research and facilitate transfer of academic knowledge to the economy we established a special purpose entity named SPIN-US Ltd.

Milvent Ltd. is a manufacturer and distributor of natural ingredients used in cosmetics and pharmacy, and plant cultivation products.
ARP Games Ltd. supports start-ups in the video game industry financially and factually, allowing young and creative developers to enter the market.
Polymertech Ltd. implements the results of research on polyester and polyurethane materials.
Smart Technologies Venture Fund Ltd. invests in research and development projects in order to introduce innovative products and technologies to the market.
Abtow Ltd. spin-out based on a water pollution detecting device, which is able to inform remotely about the toxicity level of the examined reservoir.

Centre for Polar Studies – Leading National Research Centre in Earth Sciences
Centre for Polar Studies is run by the University of Silesia and Polish Academy of Sciences. This joint program of leading Polish universities was awarded with Polish Leading National Research Centre label for 2014-2018. It conducts advanced interdisciplinary studies of the Arctic and Antarctic environment and training of young researchers.
The Centre for Polar Studies in a nutshell:
• focusing on better understanding of the interaction between atmosphere, ocean and cryosphere
• gathering and interpreting extensive data on processes taking place in the Arctic
• analyzing the response of glaciers to future climate change using the expertise in studies of glaciers terminating into the sea

School of Polish Language and Culture, a specialized unit of the University of Silesia, runs a variety of Polish language courses tailored to meet the needs of different learners. Apart from the courses, the School annually organizes the Summer School of Polish Language, Literature and Culture in Cieszyn and satisfies the demand for teachers of Polish as a foreign language by providing post-graduate courses for future teachers. The School cooperates
with various institutions interested in Polish language education and Polish Studies, e.g. the Beijing Foreign Studies University, China, and the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada.

Culture Zone located at the very heart of the former coal mine smoothly connects the past with the future. New seat of Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR), Silesian Museum and International Congress Centre together form this unique area.
Silesian Science Festival is the largest science event in the region with nearly 300 exhibitors. The event has Silesia-based higher education institutions go beyond their walls to promote science. It takes place every Autumn.
European Economic Congress gathers politicians, experts, and representatives of the world of business from Europe and across the world. It's a place for international debates about economics seen from global perspective.

Students' Activity Zone is university's unit devoted entirely to serving the student communities. Incorporating among others Student's Service Center and Career Center, the mission of the zone is not only to support the students in financial, psychological and legal matters, but also to facilitate their entrance and functioning in the labor market. Students' Activity Zone also ensures equal opportunities in terms of access to higher education for people with disabilities.
University Media Center comprises of three main media of the university: TV UŚ Television, Egida Radio and the Suplement Magazine. It focuses on delivering reliable information and promoting culture through articles and programs on current events, literature, music and much more. Apart from raising important topics, the Media Center gives students the opportunity to develop their skills as journalists, producers or editors.
Knowing the importance of participation in communities, the university strongly supports all kinds of initiatives organized by its students which focus on personal development.

“Katowice” Students' Song and Dance Ensemble is the folklore gem of the university since its very beginning. The ensemble preserves the folk culture of many Polish regions, with emphasis put on Silesia, and is constantly expanding its repertoire. “Katowice” performs regional dance shows, concerts, workshops and educational concerts all over the world.
International Student’s Folklore Festival is the only event in the calendar of UNESCO's International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts organized by academic environment. Until this day over 230 groups have taken part in the festival, gathering groups from countries such as Cyprus, Hungary, India, Kenya or Mexico, to name just a few. We are happy to organized this great event.
Egida is 100% student-run radio station established in 1969.
