Share out with beads and stickers….all hands on deck and circulate through the room.
Explain why the beads, etc.Did you notice how much you were talking? What made it easy to talk with the people around you? Were there commonalities with what you were talking about?
• Hard to believe, but we are not experts.
• These are things that we have found to motivate our students to make the language their own and use and enjoy using it:
1. like to talk about themselves
2. Like to be recognized
3. Like to compete
2. The need to model things for them.
3. Excellent form of formative assessment. If they are using it orally, they are really internalizing the material being taught.
We must offer our students multiple opporuntities to practice and demonstrate their growth towards the standards. Here are some examples that we use interpersonal communication to do just that.

Something I know I can use this coming week is…
This presentation is like being on a beach because…
If you could pick any Super Hero to help you use one of these ideas in your classroom, who would it be and why?
Something that I would like to have further explained is….
Advanced (A): Student has exceeded the teacher’s expectations. They demonstrated mastery of concepts and risk-taking with success. Proficient (P): Student has met the teacher’s expectations. They demonstrated proficiency in concepts and risk-taking with some success. Basic (B): Student has met most of the teacher’s expectations. They demonstrated a basic understanding of concepts with little demonstration of risk-taking. Minimal (M): Student met a few of the teacher’s expectations. It seems as if the work was rushed and/or done at the last minute. Lacks risk-taking.Incomplete (I): All elements of the assessment were not completed. The assessment will not be graded until all elements have been completed.
