Senator John Thune is cur-rently accepting applicationsfrom college students inter-ested in serving as interns thisfall in his Washington, DCoffice, as well as his Aberdeen,Rapid City, and Sioux Fallsoffices.
Senator Thune’s internshipprogram allows students togain valuable insight by learn-ing how a Senate office oper-ates. Interns in state officeswill participate in constituentservice and state outreachactivities, as well as assistingthe state staff, while studentsin the Washington, DC officewill have the opportunity towitness the legislative process,give Capitol tours, and attendSenate votes and hearings.
Both in-state and Washington,DC internships will allow stu-dents to work closely with con-stituents, hone their researchand writing skills, and learn amultitude of office skills.
“Interning in a Senate officeis a great opportunity for stu-dents who are interested ingovernment to serve theirstate while gaining valuableexperience for the future,” saidSenator Thune.

Renner ondean’s list

Ford named to dean’s honor list
Lydia Ford, daughter ofSteven and Pamela Ford ofVermillion, was named to thedean’s honor list at Morn-ingside College for the 2010spring semester.
Each semester the dean’shonor list recognizes stu-dents who achieve a 3.67grade point average or betterand complete at least 12credits of course work withno grade below a “C-.”
Morningside Collegeenrolled 2,036 full-time andpart-time students for the2009 fall term and welcomesstudents of all faiths and back-grounds. Morningside offersfive bachelor’s degrees, includ-ing a bachelor of arts, bachelorof science, bachelor of music,bachelor of music education,and of nursing,and a master ofarts in teaching degree. Thecollege was founded in 1894by the Methodist EpiscopalChurch and remains affiliatedwith the United MethodistChurch today.

Trust Fund awards are pre-sented annually to ClayCounty residents. TheVenard, 4-H and CentennialScholarship applicants mustbe Clay County youth andattending or will be attendinga higher school of education.All applicants must demon-strate abilities in scholastics,leadership and citizenship.
