We will resume our regular meeting schedule
on July 13

Our member of the month for July is Robin Henry. Although born
in Philadelphia, she lived in the suburbs of Maryland and the horse
country of Virginia, and then the "country roads" led Robin to
complete college in "Almost Heaven, West Virginia."
Since 1993, Robin has nestled among hundreds of beautiful, riding acres close to the Shenandoah River. She cares for 8 horses
and 2 cats (barn kitties, too!). When she is not instructing riding and horsemanship, training, showing, or traveling to her students'
stables, you will find her close to nature, whether gardening or just relaxing by watching and listening to all varieties of birds and
wildlife.
Like many, Robin comes from family generations of horse lovers. The horse trails she followed led her to working throughout
her teenage years at an A-rated, Hunter Jumper/Equitation Show Barn in Virginia. Their specialty was breeding, starting, training,
and showing non-racing Thoroughbreds. As her horse passion grew deeper and her thirst for knowledge increased, she knew in
order to succeed at jumping, a dedication to flat work is required. Thus, this
is when the dressage bug bit her. Robin studies and implements training
programs of many top equestrians, such as Charles de Kunffy, Jane Savoie,
Dennis Reis, and Erik Herbermann.
Robin's special interests are within the biomechanics of the human and the
horse, and she focuses on developing quality equine-human partnerships. She
is ARIA Certified in Dressage, Hunter Jumper, Stable Management, and is
striving towards a recent pursuit for USDF Instructor/Trainer Certifications.
You will find Robin through Equestrian Dynamics. She is not one to let the
grass grow under her feet-like her horses! Some of her favorite VADA/Nova
volunteer tasks are being a runner and helping with take down. She expresses
her appreciation to the friendly smiles and welcoming members in the
VADA/Nova chapter the past few years of her membership; and "it's what keeps
me coming back when I am needed to help! I look forward to volunteering at the
next event. See you there!"

2015 Chapter Challenge Schooling Show at
Meadows Event Park, Doswell, VA
13111 Dawn Blvd, Doswell, VA 23047
website: www.meadoweventpark.com
Show Date: Saturday, August 15th, 2015. Closing Date: Saturday, August 8th, 2015
Co-managers: Amanda Harper 804-731-7544 and Susan Ellis 804-467-3897
Secretary: Alison Douglas 804-339-7495, 11909 Halcyon Way, Prince George, VA 23875
Judge: Betty Thorpe ‘r’
Show details: This show is open only to VADA members and all VADA members are eligible to ride in individual
classes, regardless of whether their chapter is participating in the chapter challenge.
Tests offered: Intro through Grand Prix, to count individually and for chapter challenge scores.
Rider Tests, Western Dressage, Gaited Dressage and all levels of MFS are also offered BUT WILL NOT
COUNT TOWARD CHAPTER CHALLENGE SCORES. (Riders must bring their own boom box.)
NOTE: the main ring will be a standard/large size arena but should entries warrant, a second ring may be added,
which may be a small ring for lower levels rides
VADA reserves the right to limit riders to 2 tests per horse and a total of 2 horses, in the event that the show fills.
Chapter Challenge:
In addition to the individual class placings, there will be a chapter challenge using the scores from the individual
classes, except that MFS, western and gaited dressage test scores will not be used for purposes of the Chapter
Challenge.
Each person entering the show will be asked to designate the chapter he/she is riding for on their entry form (may be
the chapter of either the rider or the horse’s owner, if different.)
If a rider is member of more than 1 chapter, he/she must designate one chapter that they are riding for; riders cannot
split their rides among chapters unless they are riding 2 horses, in which case, each horse’s scores can be credited to
a different chapter.
To be eligible to participate in the chapter challenge, a chapter must have a minimum of 3 riders (can either be riding
1 or 2 tests each.) At least 1 of the 3 riders must show at or above 1st level, and no more than 1 out of every 3 tests
per chapter can be at Intro. If there are more Intro riders entering than are allowed, members riding for the chapter
will be decided based upon the date their entry was received.
9
If a chapter has less than the minimum number of riders, or they are not showing at the required levels, the
chapters will be combined to form a VADA mixed team.
If there are more Intro riders than allowed for a particular chapter, these riders can enter and compete as
individuals, but will not be representatives of their chapter for purposes of the chapter challenge placings.
To determine Final chapter placings, scores of all designated chapter riders will be added together and divided by
the number of rides to determine the chapter average.
Fees:
Classes: $30.00
Non-competing horse: $25.00
Stalls: $35.00 No arrivals before 8/14/15, please note on your entry for if you plan to arrive Friday afternoon.
Shavings: No initial shavings. Can be bought on grounds for $8 per bag.
Haul in fee/trailer tie out: $15.00, Saturday only.
Awards: Individual classes pinned to 6th place; prizes for 1st place winners and a ribbon for high score rider of
the day (Intro and MFS tests excluded)
Chapter Challenge: riders representing the top 5 placing chapters will receive special ribbons.
Special Awards:
SWVADA: High Score Jr/Yr Rider (14 – 21 yrs, must list age on entry).
