Dean’s Letter
To Whom it may concern, I am proud to present the Partnership Booklet for the 29th editionof the Quebec Engineering Games. It is with great honor that theUniversité de Sherbrooke will host the event which will take placefrom January 4th to the 8th, 2019. The competition, organized byand for engineering students, has evolved over the course of 29years. We are now facing a competition of high caliber wherehundreds of students from engineering programs from all overQuebec defend their honor in academic, physical and culturalcompetitions having to stand out by their know-how andcreativity.
Word from The EngineeringGames Committee
This year, the committee is composed of more than twenty motivated and experienced studentsfrom several programs as well as from different universities. Our objective is to make this 29thedition memorable and eco-responsible. In this edition of the Quebec Engineering Games, thetheme will be chiseled around a specific goal: "Reaching new heights". In a spirit of collaboration, future engineers will have to go beyond their limits in order to overcome the challenges presentedto them and to discover new heights. It is also an opportunity for participants to create a networkof contacts that will persist throughout their career. The material, financial and logistical resources related to this event are imposing. It is thanks tothe continued support of our partners and future employers that the competition has taken placefor more than twenty-five years. This year, we propose a personalized and adaptable approachthat can suit the needs of each partner involved. This partnership plan will give you insight into theopportunities available as part of a collaboration with our event. We invite you to contact us inorder to customize the partnership plan and make the experience profitable and enjoyable forboth parties. We wish to be able to count you among our partners for the 2019 QuebecEngineering Games. Thank you for your attention and we look forward to our collaboration,
Marc-Antoine Godin Chief Organizer

The Machine
The Major
The Machine competition is one of the mostdistinguished competitions of the QuebecEngineering Games and without a doubt, themost difficult. It is the only competitionwhere team members work tirelessly all falllong in order to complete their design andbuild their prototype. Within a set amount of time, the machine mustcross a predetermined course, whileperforming specific functions such asdisplacing object, bypassing obstacles andtransforming energy. Contestants will present the fruit of their laborto their fellow delegates and members of ajury. The jury will evaluate the performance ofthe machine as well as various aspects of thedesign. The competition is open to the publicand the media.
This competition covers multiple engineeringfields and combines them into a single challenge.Multidisciplinary teams will be assembled tocompete in a high level practical challenge.Because of the more advanced concepts andskills put forward in the competition, it gatherstalented students approaching graduation. Thismeans that more advanced concepts and skillswill be put on display. This presents a greatopportunity for a partner to establish contact withfuture engineers and graduates who are amongthe most talented of their delegations. 9
AcademicCompetitions These competitions are divided according to thesix most taught engineering programs in Quebecwith the addition of a consulting casecompetition. In teams of four to six, theparticipants simultaneously compete in atheoretical and a practical challenge for eachfield. The teams must further divide into sub-teams to face each challenge therebydeveloping both of these facets of theirengineering degree.

Sociocultural CompetitionsThese activities allow delegates to showcase their hidden talents and to share thecomplementary knowledge they have acquired in addition to the skills needed inengineering. As a partner, these competitions provide great visibility among theparticipants since you can be an integral part of these colorful activities!
Budding geniuses (Trivia) Each delegation will select four of their participants to form ateam that will play in the Quiz Bowl tournament. Questions will beanswered in teams or individually. They compete by answeringas quickly as possible to questions covering a wide variety oftopics.
Improvisation Through this competition, teams must demonstrate
imagination, responsiveness and timeliness. The competitiontakes place in front of an energetic audience composed onceagain of every delegation. This challenge tends to generate a
lot of interest and emotion from the crowd making it a greatopportunity for increased visibility in a more relaxed
environment.
Cultural evening The cultural evening is an opportunity for delegates from alluniversities to get to know each other and to have an uniqueinteraction with the partners. In fact, partners will be invited tolead an activity of their choice or that they will have developedin collaboration with the organizing committee.
Debates Participants faceoff in teams of two, quickly developing and
delivering an argument according to a position and asubject that is imposed on them. This competition is an
opportunity for the partner to witness the public speakingtalents possessed by the competitors, an added value to
their engineering background.
11
SportsCompetitionsThe sports competition day is anopportunity for the participants to standout in a field outside engineering. Thesecompetitions play out during an entireday during which the members of eachdelegation will demonstrate theirendurance, strength, agility and teamspirit.
