1. Present the word. Give all of the above. Include a little story about the word in your life. Have students say it out loud after you say it. have them tap the syllables. Have them write the word.
2. Have students turn to a partner and share the word, using it multiple times. Give students a ‘frame,’ or template to use to start their sentence using the word. (verbal)
3. Written: Give students a prompt and have them write a paragraph using the word. This is very much a RARE response. Restate, answer, reason, and example. Once again this teacher gave a template for each word to get students started. I wonder if we could just use RARE and let students reply.
4. Finally a final response would be to give another writing prompt where no frame or template is given and students would write a paragraph using the word.
