Volume: is the amount of space an object takes up
Metric standard for volume
is the liter (L)
1L = 1000ml = 1000 cm
![Page 3: Volume. Volume: is the amount of space an object takes up Metric standard for volume is the liter (L) 1L = 1000ml = 1000 cm](https://reader030.vdocument.in/reader030/viewer/2022032415/56649f055503460f94c19d67/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
liters and milliliters are used to measure liquids
Cubic centimeters are used to measure solids
1cm x 1cm x 1cm = 1 cm³

Irregular solid: uneven in shape, position, arrangement

Volume of Irregular Solids
Volume = Area of base x Height
If A = 15cm and h = 10cm,
then the volume would be:
15 cm x 10 cm = 150 cm

Can also measure volume of an irregular solid by using water displacement.( see worksheet)

Conversions using volume:
5 ml = L
10 cm = L
15 L = ml
